SFA STANDARDTournament Rules

1. SFB RULES: Tourney Rules as shown in Module T (and any official ADB errata / addendum's associated with Module T) will be adhered to, unless otherwise specified in the specific Tourney Format.
2. SHIPS AVAILABLE: Only Sanctioned Tournament Ships as authorized by ADB will be used, unless otherwise specified in the specific Tourney Format. (For official sanctioned Tournament Ship SSD's and Info, please see the Star Fleet HQ link at left.)
3. PAIRINGS: Food group mixing will be maximized. I will attempt to keep Moderators from running games with past or potential future opponents as much as possible.
4. TOURNEY STARTS: Most new SFA Tourneys will start as soon as they fill with the required Players / Moderators. Once a Tourney begins, a new one will start filling. (Unless otherwise specified.)
5. PLAYER / MODERATOR PROBLEMS: See SFA Procedures link at left.
6. GAME WEB PAGES: Web pages will be maintained by the person who volunteered to do so. It is expected that these pages get updated at least once per week, and more often if possible. (See SFA Procedures link at left.)
7. TOURNEY ROUND DEADLINES: See specific Tourney Format.
8. IN-GAME DEADLINES: Deadlines WILL BE ENFORCED by the Moderators. STANDARD SFA Tourney game deadlines are as follows:
• EAF Submissions (Players): 3 Days
• SOP Submissions (Players): 2 Days
• SITREP Posting (Moderator): 2 Days

SFA ACE TOURNEYFormat

    The SFA ACETOURNEY format is shown below. (We currently have ONE ACE TOURNEY filling. Go to Tournament Signup for info on how to signup.)

1. 16 PLAYERS: As soon as 16 players have signed up (8 of whom are willing to moderate and host web pages), a new tournament will start. You can play in as many as you wish.
2. 4-ROUND, SINGLE ELIMINATION: Three rounds plus the final match.
3. RATED ACE CARD: A Rated Ace card will be awarded to the winner of each Tournament. Module T rules will be adhered to, with the exception of the waiver already granted to us by Steve Cole for the special PBEM Tournament format.
4. ROUND DEADLINES: ACE TOURNEY Round deadlines are as follows:
 
• Tourney Round Deadlines will be at least 4 months from the start date. The end date will be the last day of the month in which 4 months has elapsed. (For example: If a Tourney Round starts between Febrary 1st and 28th, the Deadline will be June 30th.)
• If AT LEAST HALF of the games have not completed by the Deadline, an extension of one month will be granted for the Round. THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER EXTENSIONS for that Tourney Round, and no extensions for any other reason. If you're going to be out of town for the last few weeks of your

game, then you'll need to finish it before you leave.
• If greater than half have finished, then the round will be over. (In cases where exactly half have completed, The SFA Director will decide whether or not to extend the Tourney Round.)
• Please count on finishing your game within the original time period, in case half the games finish at the last minute. "I thought we'd get an extension." won't be a valid reason for granting one.
• FINAL ROUND: There will be NO Round Deadline set for the final game.

SFA MASTER'S TOURNEY Format

    The SFA MASTER'S TOURNEY format is shown below. (We currently have NO MASTER'S TOURNEY filling. Being that this is experimental, we'll wait and see how it goes. Besides, I'm getting REAL busy.)

1. 8 or 16 PLAYERS: Depending on how much interest is shown.
2. SINGLE ELIMINATION: Two or Three rounds, plus the final match.
3. RANDOM SHIPS: Each Player will be RANDOMLY assigned a Tournament Ship at the start of Round One. Each Tournament Ship will be assigned no more than ONCE.
4. CHANGING SHIPS: The Winner of each round will advance with his OPPONENT'S SHIP. (The losing ship.)
5. OPTION MOUNTS: Orions & Wyns will have their option packages chosen by the Round One Player assigned to them. Thereafter, Option packages remain fixed (though subsequent round Players that receive the Orion TBR can choose which Option package to use after finding out their opponent's ship.)
6. NON-SANCTIONED: This is an ALTERNATE Tourney format, and is NON-SANCTIONED. As such, NO RATED ACE CARD will be awarded to the winner.
7. ROUND DEADLINES: MASTER'S TOURNEY Round deadlines are as follows:
 
• Tourney Round Deadlines will be at least 4 months from the start date. The end date will be the last day of the month in which 4 months has elapsed. (For example: If a Tourney Round starts between Febrary 1st and 28th, the Deadline will be June 30th.)

ALTERNATE, NON-Sanctioned Tournaments:

    If there is enough demand, we will try other alternate Tournaments, such as different structure (see Master's Tourney above), and possibly Omega Tournaments. (Omega TC's would have to be developed here.) NOTE: These "Alternate" Tourneys would NOT be Rated Ace authorized. If you have an idea for an Alternate Tourney format that you'd like to see here, bring it up in the SFA Forum, and we'll see what happens.
