Serious=OFF

Faced with the plethora of enhanced photon designs being proposed for the Photon, DSF R&D Personnel have spent long hours working out a method by which disruptors may be fired in a "Gatling" mode.

This mode allows any Disruptor fired in standard mode (not overloaded) to immediatly recharge from batteries and be ready to fire on the next impulse.

This upgraded firing mode is installed on D and C class ships that have received the "GOD" refit.

For D5 hulls, this upgrade replaces the drone and ADD racks in the secondary hull with a 6 battery group. Drone racks are added to the rear hull just behind the wing phasers.

For D6/7 hulls, the existing rear hull BTTY is replaced with TRAN. The original TRAN is increased to 3 box groups (as in the D7C) which are in turn replaced with BTTY. The boom BTTY is expanded to 2 boxes (same as on the D5 boom). At the same time the APR is increased to 6 to help support the additional power requirements.

For C8/9 hulls, the shuttle and drone bays are linked to form a massive 12 battery group.

Though the DSF will be reducing its drone throw weight, the GOD upgrades should allow them to maintain combat equivolence to the Federation.

NOTE: For those GODless ships in the DSF (frigates and escorts) a disruptor trade in will be authorized. Each disruptor can be swapped for a C-Rack.

SPECIAL: Tugs receive the same boom upgrade as the D6/7. They can also carry a "Battery pack" that replaces their hull mounted cargo.

This should keep things equal. Disruptors have needed an upgrade for a long time!

Bwah-HA-HA-HA-HA!!

Ok, I needed that laugh.

Makes you want to put disruptors on a mauler.

Oh, wait, the Lyrans have a DN-amuler w/ 4 disruptors.

It a disruptor! It's a PPD! Hey kids, don't fight. It's both...

I am wondering what SVC and SPP think of this...

We think we won't have time to read it until after Origins.

Don't bother, Steve. We're not serious here.

I like the GOD GUN and I am serious.

I think;

Because there are some Klingon Ships that became X-ships ( see D5X ) that didn't gain a 50% increase in fire power ( unlike the D7 to DX ), that therefore the Klingons would be looking for some kind of X-Heavy Weapon that provides something like a 50% increase in Firepower ( or a 100% increase in Fire power ).

I'ld say that the GOD GUN could easily be used in X-ship battles just by upping the BPV of the Ships by about 8 point per disruptor.

( Might need some UIM & Defracs rules work though ).

I like it too:)
But it's not only a joke. If we add a burnout roll after each firing (a la UIM) it would probably be balanced too! Make ita burnout on a roll of six.

I think the auto-hit range 8 disruptors are good enuf for the Klinks. I think a rapid-fire improvement could be given to the Selts, though! GOPC doesn't have quite the same ring to it, I admit...

By Carl-Magnus Carlsson (Eagle) on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 - 05:42 am: Edit

Ok, what do you think about this?
"Burnout" roll for each weapon, after each firing. A sort of misfire on a roll of six. Can be fired under UIM but this means you roll for burnout of the UIM module too, after each firing.
I really like this idea. It would be excellent late X! or X2 tech!
(The ship changes above OTOH seems unneccesary:))

Orbis, GO TO BED! :)

But... I didn't get OUT of bed till 9 pm! :)

Orbis, an experiment in sleep disruption.

Or have the UIM burnout roll increase for every consecutive firing or within four or eight impulse of the last firing. Give the crystal matrix time to cool off. Ex. Kaptain Kally Kruthers fires the disruptors with UIM three times within eight impulses, so burn out roles goes from 1-2 to 1-3 to 1-4 with each roll. For each eight impulses that the UIM is not used the burnout roll decreases by 1 until it reaches 1-2 again.

Stop it! Stop it! STOP IT!!!

You are turning a prefectly good April rule into a real one!!!

By Robert Snook (Verdick) on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 - 01:02 pm: Edit

Despite the fact that it was posted in May?

By Mark Kuyper (Mark_K) on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 - 01:39 pm: Edit

Robert,
Thats why I started it with "Serious=OFF"..
I don't know of a better way to post april rules for the Steves (and everyone elses) enjoyment.

Who knows? Maybe the next April CL will have Klingon GODs in it... B-)

By Robert Snook (Verdick) on Wednesday, May 22, 2002 - 01:52 pm: Edit

I know. :) It's still fun.

By Adam James Villatorio (Merlinfmct87) on Monday, May 17, 2004 - 02:59 pm: Edit

Nasty that. Might almost make the feds try to steal the Disruptors.

That's a scary thought...GOD guns and Heavy Photons...*shudder*

By Patrick H. Dillman (Patrick) on Monday, May 17, 2004 - 06:00 pm: Edit

Only for battles fought on April 1st! AND the Feds get the old April Fools photon rule re-installed!
