(SM___.0) THE SPACE HUNTER
A creature is attacking units in your territory. Your ship is sent to destroy it.
(SM___.1) NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 1; The Space Hunter operates under automatic rules.
(SM___.2) INITIAL SETUP: the enemy cruiser is off the map.
SPACE HUNTER: in hex 3015.
PLAYER: Cruiser in hex 1215, speed max, any facing, WS-1.
(ISM 2.3) SCENARIO LENGTH: Until the Space Hunter is destroyed, or the ship is destroyed or has disengaged.
(SM___.4) SPECIAL RULES
(SM___.41) MAP: Use a floating map.
(SM___.42) SHUTTLES AND PFs: Any shuttle, fighter, PFs, or WBPs can be purchased as Commander’s Options.
(SM___.43) COMMANDER’S OPTIONS
(SM___.431) Additional or Special equipment may be purchased and counts under (SM3.7).
(SM___.432) Drone speeds are appropriate for the year chosen. Special drones may be purchased.
(SM___.44) SPACE HUNTER MOVEMENT
(SM___.441) The Space Hunter moves by displacing itself. Roll 2 dice during the Initial Activity Phase of each turn to determine how often the Space Hunter will displace that turn. The number of displacements is marked as speed on the movement chart.
(SM___.442) The Space Hunter displaces during the Post Combat Segment of each impulse that its movement is called for. Roll 1 die to determine the direction it will displace then roll 1 die to determine the number of hexes it is to displace; exception (SM___.46).
(SM___.443) The Space Hunter may not be tractored or trapped in web. It may be displaced or placed into stasis.
(SM___.45) SPACE HUNTER ATTACKS
(SM___.451) The Space Hunter will attack any unit within 5 hexes. It will attack other monsters.
(SM___.452) The Space Hunter may attack each unit only once each turn.
(SM___.453) The number of hexes the Space Hunter moved during its last displacement determines the Space Hunter’s present attack strength.
DIE HEXES (last displacement)
ROLL 1 2 3 4 5 6
1 36 30 24 18 12 6
2 30 25 20 15 10 5
3 24 20 16 12 8 4
4 18 15 12 9 6 3
5 12 10 8 6 4 2
6 6 5 4 3 2 1
(SM___.454) The Space Hunter has MCIDS (E6.0).
(SM___.455) Space Hunters are not affected by other Space Hunter fire.
(SM___.46) TRACKING DISPLACEMENTS
(SM___.461) If a displacement device is operated within 100 hexes of the Space Hunter, the Space Hunter will begin tracking and following the unit that operated the displacement device, displacing toward it on every displacement.
(SM___.462) The Space Hunter will track that unit for 5 turns (160 impulses). It will attempt to breed (SM___.47) with the unit and will fire at the unit once each turn (in frustration) if the unit moves away from the Space Hunter and is within range.
(SM___.463) If another unit operates a displacement device within range of the Space Hunter it will switch its tracking to that unit.
(SM___.47) BREEDING
(SM___.471) If another Space Hunter is within range, both will begin tracking (SM___.46) each other.
(SM___.472) When 2 Space Hunters move into the same hex they breed. For 64 impulses after entering the same hex they move as a single unit. They displace each time either is required to displace and displace twice if both are to displace.
(SM___.473) During the 64 impulse breeding period both monsters fire normally except that their damage is doubled.
(SM___.474) After the breeding period the Space Hunters separate and another Space Hunter is added. All three Space Hunters ignore each other’s displacements for 320 turns.
(SM___.5) VICTORY CONDITIONS: The Space Hunter must be destroyed. You must score 400 points of damage and then roll 1 die. If the result is 1 the Space Hunter is destroyed. Roll again on each impulse in which you score damage equivalent to the Space Hunter’s maximum damage on the damage chart for its last displacement. Use ship size adjustments (SM___.7).
(SM___.6) VARIATIONS
(SM___.61) Have a player control the monsters displacement direction.
(SM___.62) Use the (S6.0) Victory Conditions.
(SM___.63) Use more ships or Space Hunters.
(SM___.7) SHIP SIZE ADJUSTMENTS: The strength of the Space Hunter is adjusted by using the following equation: N = V/125 x 400
where N is the number of points of damage required before die rolls can begin and V is the BPV of the ship being used. Drop all fractions. There is no adjustment to subsequent die rolls.

This sounds like a cool scenario. Was it ever published?
