During the Andromedan War the Klingons developed a mine warhead that exploded in a blast of disruptor energy. The yield was smaller but had the same negative effects on Andromedan PA pannels as their ship mounted disruptor weapons.

Small Disruptor Bomb (transportable)= 8 points.

Large Disruptor Bomb = 30 points.

YIS: I don't know, mid-Andro war I guess.

Availability: If on a specific Andro mission (I.e. Andro RTN hunting or Andro Base attack) all can be DB for Klingon, Kzinti and Lyran. Half of T-Bombs per ship for all other races. S8 pick-up games limit one per ship of any race.

All other (M0.0) rules apply.

I guess it's balanced, and has a minor tactical advantage in that your own units take less damage, but is it worth bothering?

As a overloaded disruptor does 10 points at range 0 it seems that 30 points is a lot.

A T-Bomb does ten and a large mine does 35.

The Large Disruptor Bomb is a large mine so I think the explosion strength is right.

All these are are mines that do disruptor degradation to PA pannels. They do slightly less damage but are more of an irritant to Andros... which is what makes them attractive to Klingons. Anything to piss off the Andros is a good thing.

They are only useful against Andros and were only introduced in that era. They certainly could have been introduced much earlier but since against everyone else they are less effective there was no reason to. Sometime during the Andro war a old Klingon Admiral said "I wish those things could degrade their pannels like our disruptors," and he and his science officer suddenly looked at each other and remembered an old study they read. Soon after the DisBomb was developed.

And the reason for not just placing some disruptor mines that can fire again and again and...

Jus tincrease the number of captor mines in service.

For example, have a PASSEL of DF mines set to fire on any ship moving at speeds greater than X. This would be best if the field is very large, even if thin, so there are attacks often.

Then fire a passel of seekers at the Andros and watch them

MCG: The point was to put Transporter version on ships. After that the other versions were naturals.
