Paramount wouldn't stop us doing novels or graphic novels (given a couple of simple contractual things like including a scenario for Fed Commander and people stars for GPD).

The problem is the art costs. Paying $300 for the total amount of art in a Captain's Log is one thing. Paying $50 a page (a very cheap rate) for a graphic novel of (64? 100?) pages is an entirely different thing.

Most graphic novels I have seen (and my experience-exposure is limited) are in color, which means that the printing cost of the book would be somethign over $10,000. I know, I got a quote. The Calendar I want to do is over $4,000 for printing alone and Leanna is blowing a fit.

And, you know, if somebody brings up every rejected idea once a year, some year, some year, it will be practical to do it. Lots of things got done because of the Kyoceras that had been rejected for years.

I've been thinking of writting a story about a team sent to recover a suit of powered armour that was aboard an F-111 that was forced to crash land on Sigma Iotia (the gangster planet) and I think that such a story would in fact be better suited to a graphic novel format.

You might find 8 pages every CL for the next 4 CLs would be the way to get one done.

I don't think so. There are not that many CapLog pages to spare or to take away from other things.

I have seen cartoon software before. It's not totally useless, and I'm sure it has improved since I saw it. I didn't see any which was scifi oriented, and we might actually have to build our own set. But in theory it could work. Not sure if the graphic novel crowd (no point in doing this just to sell to SFB players) would accept software-generated comics.
