Thanks to you Ken for taking the time out of your busy schedule and running Wl again this year.

REQUEST FOR CLEAN-OUT: Paul or somebody else, we need to reduce the database of messages to relax the load on the processor. Can some of the older messages in this topic (say, those before 1 July 08) be deleted, or is the entire topic obsolete and deletable?
Jean will delete messages older than six months on 31 Dec 08 if we do not hear otherwise from somebody before then.

Hey--so apparently I am being hornswaggled into running World League 2009. Which I'm perfectly happy to do. I need someone to:
A) Put up the url of the website that has all the appropriate rules and information (so I can steal them and put them up on my website).
B) Uh, I think that is it until we start trying to get players.
By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, January 26, 2009 - 12:50 pm: Edit
Never mind. I solved (A) myself. 'Cause I am smart. S. M. R. T.
Anyone have any advice? Requests? Opposition to me summarily taking control?

Gofer it, Peter.
By Ken Lin (Old_School) on Monday, January 26, 2009 - 03:45 pm: Edit
Peter, when I get home tonight I will be emailing you the following:
1. The main Excel spreadsheet
2. The various Word documents which I save as html, which I then upload
Feel free to use and/or discard. I can also help you with geocities, but it seems like you are already savvy in website creation. Please feel free to lean on me if there's any advice I can give.
Thanks for volunteering to run WL 2009!

Yeah, I got a website allready. I'll just host the tournament info there.
Thanks for the help!
So I guess this means:
World League 2009 is starting! Well, mostly! The short version is:
-You get a team of 3 people.
-You play round robin games vs other 3 person teams--everyone plays at least 3 games.
-After the first round, enough of the teams get eliminated and advance to the next round to make a squash ladder of 8 teams/4 teams/2 teams/winner.
The rules are currently at the top of this page on Ken's old page. I'll set up a new web page with all the appropriate info in the next few days.
Paul, could an e-mail announcement be made?

Hornswaggled is a bit harsh. There may have been some skullduggery though.

Peter, check your inbox - let me know if you didn't get my emails.
By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 09:08 am: Edit
Yeah, everything showed up. Thanks!
By Chris Proper (Duke) on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 12:31 pm: Edit
Well, you can tell I'm tempted.

So as I haven't put up a web page yet, I guess the best plan is for people to try and organize teams of three. If you want to be on a team, post here. If you want to organize a team of 3, put up the team of 3 here. I can't really see any harm in posting ship selections here due to the format of the event, but that's me.

I want to form a team called
The Car Acrobatic Team
(I'll be flying Orion)~ likely my teammates might chose other Weird ships by group, as well (ATC, LDR, Andro) ~ I think that is the Weird ship group~ been awhile!
Robert in Seattle

I'm quite flexible, and available to any team.
By Andrew J. Koch (Droid) on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 11:33 am: Edit
I'll attempt to roust Ken and Del so Team Yellow Alert can try and defend the title. I think Ken is in, but I have not talked to Del yet. We may have an opening.
By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 11:46 am: Edit
I was just talking Chris into contacting you and Brook to be Team Lyran :-)
By Andrew J. Koch (Droid) on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 01:32 pm: Edit
That could tear a hole in the fabric of space time, because it would also be a team of Steeler Fans. Team Terrible Towel(T Cubed)? The Terrible Team? Team One For the Other Thumb? Team Bitterly Disappointed? The mind reels!
There's precedent for the Judge to also play. Chris should be on Team Ithaca, because he, well, lives in Ithaca.
By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 - 04:11 pm: Edit
Really? Well, if the Judge can play, Team Ithaca it is!
By Patrick Hill (Dread_Lord) on Thursday, January 29, 2009 - 08:36 am: Edit
I personally don't have any problem with the Judge playing, so I say go for it!
Also I am available representing Philly!
