World League Tournament

To signup a team the team "Captain" needs to send an Email to pdb6@lightlink.com with "World League" in the subject) with the following info on each player on your team:

-Real name
-SFBOL screen name
-working e-mail
-ship choice, including option mounts
By Andrew J. Koch (Droid) on Monday, February 09, 2009 - 11:01 am: Edit

Or you could have one non Jason and your team could be Jasons and the Argonaut. :)

By John Smith (Johnsmith) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 01:40 am: Edit

I suppose I could make 1/3 of a team, as well.

By Scott Moellmer (Goofy) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 08:20 am: Edit

===
It'd be tough to make 2/3. :)

By John Smith (Johnsmith) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 09:50 am: Edit

What if I happen to be half of siamese twins?

By Jonathan Biggar (Jonb) on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - 12:01 pm: Edit

Then *you* would still be 1/3 of a team.

By Gary Bear (Gunner) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 12:21 am: Edit

When is the signup deadline?

If some team is one short, it wouldn't take too much arm-twisting to get me aboard.

By Andrew J. Koch (Droid) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 08:41 am: Edit

Gary,
I think the signup is the end of Feb.
Consider your arm twisted. :)

By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 09:11 am: Edit

Signup deadline is the end of Feb.

A) I'm being convinced to allow the new playtest Andro into the tournament (same as the current one but with 2 extra APR tacked on) in the name of generating playtest reports. Anyone have any opinions on this? (this is the only playtest ship I'm willing to consider, as it is the only one that I know the developers actively want playtest reports on).

B) No one has sent me a team info e-mail which I requested earlier, so I'll request again:

Each team should elect a "captain", who is only responsible for one thing. Send me an e-mail with "world league" in the subject line that contains the following info on each player on your team:

-Real name
-SFBOL screen name
-working e-mail
-ship choice, including option mounts

If you know you have a team of 3 already, please do this.

Thanks!
-Peter

Call me stupid, but where do you actually sign up?

By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 10:51 am: Edit

[Exasperated Sigh]

To quote from above (this "every 20 posts, the previous 20 posts vanish" system is really shooting me in the foot here):

SO as we now have the link on the top of the page, let's say the tournament will start on March 1st (i.e. I'll post the first round match ups then).

That means we have about a month to get the word out and get together 3 player teams. Again, if you can build a 3 player team, post it here and I'll collect and organize.

If you can't get together a 3 player team, post here and I'll try to get one for you.

You can also e-mail me ( pdb6@lightlink.com with "world league" in the subject) and do the same thing.

And then from a post, like, 3 up:

Each team should elect a "captain", who is only responsible for one thing. Send me an e-mail with "world league" in the subject line that contains the following info on each player on your team:

-Real name
-SFBOL screen name
-working e-mail
-ship choice, including option mounts

If you know you have a team of 3 already, please do this.

Also, I still haven't seen an email announcement. Expect to see complaints from folks if the event starts without an email announcement. (Just trying to head off future problems for all involved, especially the judge :).

By Ike Baker (Cloudmasters) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 11:51 am: Edit

I would like to play if anyteam would like a Klingon.

By Andrew J. Koch (Droid) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 12:06 pm: Edit

My opinion on the +2 Andro in WL is: Why the heck not?

It seems to be a good way to get a few good test reports to SPP and maybe form some sort of consensus on the Andro. He has pretty much stated that he will only playtest one ship at a time, so lets tackle this Andro issue that seems to be in stasis, which in turn puts the playtest Fed (what most people seem to care about) in stasis.

By Brian Evans (Romwe) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 02:31 pm: Edit

Ken, I'm pretty sure that I saw an email. It just didn't have a subject, so who knows how email filters may have treated it. I'm also pretty sure that Dave Cheng forwarded it on to his SWA list as well.

I sent a message to the appropriate person. I heard nothing and haven't seen anything. Are we sure there isn't something else I'm supposed to do?

I saw the message. It was missing a subject line, though.

By Ken Lin (Old_School) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 04:38 pm: Edit

OK, my filter must have stopped it.

By Peter D Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 04:44 pm: Edit

Hmm. I don't remember seeing it either. I saw one from SWA/Dave Cheng, which probably means he got one from Beeson. But I don't know that the original got to me.

Ok, so upon careful consideration (well, that, and Andy talking me up), World League 2009 *will* allow the playtest Andro (which is the current legal Andro TC, but with 2 extra APR) on the condition that is you are flying the playtest Andro, you write up a playtest report on each game you play and send it to SPP.

I'll put this info on the website.

And please, each team, again, have someone (i.e. "Captain") send me an e-mail with the following info for each team member:

-Real Name
-SFBOL handle
-working e-mail
-ship selection, including option mounts

Cloudmaster - you still available?

I need a third

By David Cheng (Davec) on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - 08:11 pm: Edit

Yes, I got the original from Beeson, which I then forwarded to the SWA's SFB list.

Yep, I did forget the subject line.

Dangit - I wonder how many got spammed away. I'll re-send an update.

This one showed up and was noticed :-)

Thanks!
