Having a bad turn mode is the associated cost of having the warp to move quickly. Reducing this cost means X2 ships will have even more reason to travel quickly. The idea makes sense as an X2 gadget, but I remain leary of how this would play. Can we discuss a formal proposal or two in the X2 Manuever thread?

"Well, this game doesn't lend itself to off hand handwavium. Naturally there must be some but it must also be consistant."
Sorry, I didn't hear you... I was busy aligning my flux capacitor so that my warp core anti-matter dielectric was balanced allowing my to shoot a phase locked laser (phaser) at a speed greater than c.
Tos,
Is that SSD for real? Holy crap that is NOT what I was thinking. I'm not for massive guns pointing in every direction... more along the lines of, "oh, how cute, you brought 4 slingshots (CWs) to a gunfight(X2)"

The SSD is not for real. I use it as an example of what X2 should not become if we are to follow our prime directive of playing nice with GW era ships. That ship wouldn't play nice.

Larry,
what I meant was "internally consistant" which is something the SFU strives to attain (and pretty well I'd add).

There's already been a manouvering thread...I just posted in it.

I was suggesting using the existing thread, not creating a new one, but you figured that out.

Sorry for not catching your meaning.

I think X2, in a simpler form, needs to be playable in Fed Commander. Fighters aren't in FC and drones are limited. The advanced rules, what ever they might be, would use the SFB game. X2 battles might be smaller i.e. squadrons of 2-3 ships rather than the fleets of 5-8 ships during the GW.
If the BOM rules for fighters etc are developed then larger GW-X1-X2 squadron and fleet battles would be playable.

To a degree X2 ideas will fit in well with FC.
The Ph-5 and ASIF and regenerative shields will probably not need any changes.
Even the S-Bridge will be playable if the scout rules make it into FC.
