I had started writing a scenario depicting races attacking Space Boar herds (as shown in Y1). So why not try to get the scenario added to Y3...
Anyhow below is how I thought to depict the herd (being automatically controlled). I'd like input from the mob if you are up to it.
(SP___.47) Space Boar herd. The typical Space Boar herd consisted of a Matriarch usually leading about a dozen “young” boar, with three to five mated “pairs” of adult Boars. In the standard scenario, use a dozen “young” and 4 “female” and 4 “male” boars. Larger or smaller numbers of boars would be a variation listed below, but there will always be a “matriarch” leading the herd. Use a Federation Drone to represent the Matriarch, use Kzinti Drones to represent the Young, use Gorn Plasmas to represent the Females, and use Romulan Plasmas to represent the Males.
(SP___.471) Use all rules in (SM18.45) for any rules unanswered here.
(SP___.473) Matriarch. The Matriarch of the herd is an above average sized boar which has reached a considerable age. It will follow the table in (SP___.475) for movement normally. If any Young Space Boar or itself has been hurt by an attacking ship it will “target” that ship and use the movement chart in (SM18.451), changing to speed 27 the following impulse. If the Matriarch enters the hex of it’s target it’s tusks attack per (SM18.452), but each tusk inflicts 2d6+3 damage. The Matriarch Space Boar takes 260-310 damage (at the start of the scenario roll 250+1D6*10 for it’s damage capacity).
(SP___.474) Young. The Young are relatively unarmed and slow, so they are usually kept within the confines of the adults to protect them. If the Matriarch “leaves” the young via (SP___.473), the Young will follow the Matriarch as a seeking weapon, and will automatically attack any ship which enters their hex or hex they enter. The Young attack as per (SM18.452), but they shall only inflict 2d6-2 damage per tusk. They will not roll again on the (SM18.451) chart, but to continue to follow the Matriarch as a seeking weapon. The Young Space Boars take 110-160 damage (100+1d6*10, again roll their damage capacity at the start of the scenario).
(SP___.475) Herd movement. The herd is following the movement of the Matriarch until a ship comes within 6 hexes of the herd. The Males and Females will then immediately (as a mid-turn speed change) change to speed 27 and use (SM18.451) for control. The Matriarch moves at speed 12, and rolls twice per turn on Impulse #1 and impulse #17 to find out what the Matriarch will do on the chart below.
Die Roll Matriarch/Young Boar Decision
1 Roll again, 1-3 Turn right, 4-6 slip right if able to do so, otherwise turn.
2-5 Straight
6 Roll again, 1-3 Turn left, 4-6 slip left if able to do so, otherwise turn
(SP___.48) Females and Males. The Adults follow (SM18.451) as that scenario, except they will turn to follow the Matriarch’s direction if there is not a ship within 6 hexes for it to target.
