We know you guys want SFB stuff in eBook format and we plan to give it to you, but you have said you want it updated first, and that means it gets done one product at a time, cannot be done while Petrick is doing CapLog or some other module, and we're frankly not sure how long it will take to update a given product. So, stay tuned, it's going to happen, but not everything is going to get fully updated tomorrow.

We will NOT upload G3 or G3A (or G4 or G5) to eBook vendors until SFBOL finishes the upgrade to non-downloadable SSDs.

Jonathan, I have a PDF with rule numbers (TOC style) and products. You don't have an email in your profile, if you would like a copy send me an email.

Speaking of Warehouse 23, it appears that Steve Jackson Games are in the process of migrating their online storefront to Shopify: this is their (in-progress) listing for PDFs from ADB.

The old site still allows for "legacy" files to be downloaded, but for no new purchases to be made.

Jonathan,

It's possible I did something to modify the file. I will download another copy from WH23 and go from there. Thanks!

Thomas Mathews: Sorry, no. This particular script is custom-tailored to work on one specific PDF file (the SFB MRB). It could be modified to work on other files, but in order to do so, I'd need to have copies of those other files so I can test it. I haven't played F&E (yet), and I don't own the F&E rulebooks. Any competent programmer who does have other PDFs is welcome to modify the script to work on them.

I only own one PDF from ADB so far. If I buy more later, I will probably modify the script to work on them.

Ken Kazinski: Thanks, e-mail sent!

Gary Carney: For what it's worth, I bought the PDF from the new site.

Ted Fay: I hope it allows you to do it. I think there is a limited time (30 days) after your purchase, during which you're allowed to re-download.

Warehouse23 has allowed me to redownload years old files.

By Jonathan Jones (Jej1997) on Friday, February 17, 2023 - 05:13 pm: Edit

You're right. In the e-mail I received, it said "Download links expire after 3 downloads or 30 days, whichever comes first. Or log into your Warehouse 23 account to download these items any time." I completely missed that second sentence.

I have made a "version 2" of the script. In addition to everything it did before, it also adds an Appendix to the document.

The Appendix shows all of the external rule references, and which modules contain the rule definitions. If you click on an external rule reference anywhere in the text, you will now be taken to the appropriate section in the Appendix.

Please post here any problems.

Today I posted a new version of the Clickable Master Rulebook script, which adds a few links that it missed before (for example, where the rule number was not written in parentheses).

Any word on the status of the new Galactic Conquest book?

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 - 10:29 pm: Edit

Jonathan,

I confirm that by re-downloading my purchased copy of the MRB from Warehouse 23 I was able to use your program and generate the output.

You are AWESOME! Thanks!!!

Ryan, no, sorry on the GC revision.

You need to update the links for warehouse23 now that they've moved to Shopify.

Good luck on the short term on W23 Shopify. So far it has been a Charley Foxtrot.

The old Warehouse 23 new products page would show non-SJGames products, how do I find them now?

We are currently working on getting all of the 3rd party items correctly tagged so we can have a drop down menu for companies much like the old site.

Jonathan,

Your python script is very slick and works well. I liked the added page at the end.

What's the next Master Starship Book after R1?

My vote is for the ISC, WYN and then the Orions.

Thanks, Ken!

I'd love ISC. There's a lot of strangeness in their ship descriptions.

By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Saturday, February 25, 2023 - 01:18 am: Edit

I'd love the ISC as well. Their unique background suggests so much for potential fighter development and I'd love to see what sort of ethical quandries they may have had with Gunboat development as well.

(Actually, what they undoubtedly saw with simulator use of their Gunlines may suggest they had far fewer ethical quandries than the allegedly "Barbaric" Federation... :))

However, as I gaze into my crystal ball, I'd suspect that the greater scope and more universal threat from the Andromedans may make their MSSB higher on the "Future Product List" with Our Hosts.

(Then again, I am wrong about things better than 50% of the time*, so you never know...)

([* Make that 90%.])
