So far, Omega doesn't really have much in the way of fleet or theater transports, unless you count the Bolosco (who build most of their fleet around the concept). Only the Mæsrons have light and heavy tugs in print, though it's implied that others (like the Probr) have their own transports.

In the case of the FRA, they might have plenty of files from back in Alpha (Aurora's own records, plus those from Klingon, Lyran and ISC sources they got in the Y170s), though I would suggest that by the time the hybrid destroyers are in service, the FRA would have a particular use for such a unit.

The Aurorans were sending task forces to support the Mæsrons, and later did the same for the Probr; plus they had a role to play in Operation Concerted Strike. Given that the DD itself was built initially as a task force ship, and that DDs on long-distance operations would have SRC and TM ammo to worry about, it might be logical to envision the FRA building a couple of destroyers as transport variants in order to get fresh stocks and supplies to such forces beyond its home space.

So far as pod use goes, I'd imagine that the FRA might decide to make their transports compatible with standard Mæsron pods; the Aurorans adopted other Mæsron logistical units in Y162, and a degree of interoperability with their longest-standing allies in the octant might seem reasonable.

One advantage such a transport would have is that, thanks to its Klingon engines, it would have good tactical speeds; especially if it wasn't carrying a pod, in which case it could outrun most rival ships. (Right now, only a handful of non-FRA units, like the Iridani Clipper and Vulpa Blockade Runner, could keep pace with it at a tactical level.)


In Alpha, a destroyer transport would be an obvious variant. In Omega, there's still a lot to be published regarding what, if any, kind of military transports most of the empires present would use; though the FRA might be as likely a case as any to get one.
