One of the original proposals was to give X2 10 EW points instead of a ph-5. That was shot down as being too powerful.

Yeah, I'm actually proposing something that'ld give X2 ships ( say two to six of them...so any X2 Squadron ) as having an advantage but XCCs leading full 11 ship fleets ( thanks to the extra push rule ) at least an extra ECCM point but that wouldn't occour in duels.
Apart from upping the X2 Squadron advantage in X1 Squadron Vs X2 Squadron battles, which fewer (say four X2 instead of 6 X1 ) but better ships would already have some advantages and so maybe isn't worthwhile.

Perhaps some other effect that doesn't generate EW would be better. Would anyone like to see X2 have the power to jump up their turn modes by one class ( so A becomes AA etc) for a short period ( like say 3 consecutive turns ) when using the S-Bridge of the command ship ( if there's only one X2 ship then it is it's own cammand ship ) so long as there are enough CR points to spend 2 points on each X2 ship in the squadron. All for the cost of investing the HET bonus of the vessel and keeping the S-Bridge powered and un directed to other functions.
Call it the "close squadron manouvering command computer effect".

Some talk in the Improved Auxillary thread has made me wonder out how the Andro RTN was destroyed.

Perhaps we should make the S-Bridge into a late X1 era system so that X1 ships ( be they refitted CX and DDX or new design CMXs or DDXs ) can aid in the destruction of the Andro RTN nodes.

Basically scouts don't have the weaponry and there just arn't enough PFTs and SCSs to hit lots of nodes at ones ( which will probably be an effective counter to offset the ability of the Andros to bring up reinforcements ). So maybe we should shift the S-Bridge to late X1 tech.

Well I'll take that as a "No" then.

MJC,

It's already established that a ship with special sensors can find a RTN node. That's why the SSCS was built.

Special Sensors are expensive, so they're only built in limited numbers.

The Special Bridge, which Loren came up with about 2 years ago, has the ability to find RTN nodes much cheaper than a special sensor can.

But, the breakthroughs needed for it didn't come around until Y205, when the X2 ships came out.

However, they wer kept on X2 flagships because nobody was certain that the entire RTN had been destroyed.

Yeah.
But if we change that history and make S-Bridge avaivle in say Y198 for X1 some new build X1 vessels, then we can lone X1 cruisers and perhaps even lone X1 Destroyers killing RTN nodes which would make for fun and quick X1 Vs Andro battles.

I'ld be okay with saying that the X1 S-bridge was less advanced than the X2 S-bridge and just limit it to:-
• RTN node detection
• Tac Intel
• Detecting mines
Perhaps add in Drone ID and/or scientific information based on what the X2 list grants the S-Bridge.

I think it's soemthing of a shame that the S-Bridge is so good at hunting the RTN and never gets the chance. If we shift the technology to beinga late X1 thing then it'll let a whole bunch of full warships ( rather than super PFTs like the SSCS ) do battle with node units.

Does anybody have a Fed CX .BMP or .GIF ?
As I've just been struck by an idea that might be worth knocking around with.
Specifically X1 RTN hunting cruisers.
