For additional Fed headaches -

- the positional stabilizer is not on-line, takes 2-3 turns

- final supply runs from TG/LTT/FFT (transporter/HTS shuttle)

- minefield need CC mines for entrance gap, MLS shuttle/MS (abort on Elan entrance?)

- combination of the above?

I do not know that the scenario (which does not exist yet) needs to be enlarged or have extra complications thrown in. It needs to be an interesting challenge, yes, but small enough to be readily playable. Complications can be added as variations once a basic workable scenario develops that represents a suicidal attack by the DWV (with or without escorts, with or without any fighters, or maybe only one escort or just few remaining fighters. But it must have some chance of destroying the base in any case, and little chance of doing so and escaping.

This might be better as a solitaire scenario.

Best Idea I have heard yet.

Killing the mobile base can be a “by the numbers” kind of thing. How to make the pursuit/death of the Elan work as a solitaire thing might be more challenging.

You'd think there would be an approach battle. Then kill the base.
THEN try to escape...

Similar but different than the Red Wyn Express. Or the flight of the Dragon (?) to the LDR.

Well, if there were an approach battle, there would have to be units in place to be dispatched. Against the attacking force.

Against the IKV carrier group, they would be over matched, but since it's an attrition action attempting to degrade the IKV Elan flight group would directly reduce the fighters the carrier has...

If there is to be an approach battle, the base defender force would be limited.

Perhaps the base dispatches its fighter squadron (12 single space fighters, F-18B?), the POL, possibly a police Security skiff or a slammer?

The mission would be to attrition the fighters, not directly attack the carrier or escorts. Plus, the POL must survive to aid in the defense of the MB.
