I remember asking about this earlier, and being told that the proposal may have been made already. Is there anyway to know if it has?

Looking through everything to see what can be removed, and also looking for any "lost" EY ideas, and I tripped across this topic.

Funny thing. As an otherwise pointless exercise that I greatly enjoyed but probably means nothing or little to anyone else, I did exactly this. Of course, if we are going to kill of fighters, we are also going to kill off those pesky fusions, too. So, of course, I ended up with not only a fighter-less Hydran fleet, but they also used hellbores throughout.

Again, my submission above is extremely extreme and would never fly on multiple levels. But, it was fun, so I did it.

Also note that while I don't think I addressed it anywhere in what I linked to, I don't think I was going to kill of fighter fusion beams; just those on ships. And just because all of the casual fighters disappeared doesn't mean there wouldn't be dedicated carriers. (In fact, maybe I ought to go add some of those ... I'll think about it later.)

Also, to be honest, I image that even ship fusion beams would still be around, but for the auxiliaries and police and such that would never be able to use hellbores to any effect.

(Heh. Maybe when they allow a few oxygen-breathers ships, they are all restricted to fusions and only the Hydran warships ever use hellbores.)

Anyway, the main point is that it isn't a new idea, and I am sure there are lots of submissions for both fighter-less and hellbore-only Hydrans. I happened to combine the two ideas, but I doubt that is unique, either.

I think there aren't a lot of submissions really, as it would come under obvious variants which is generally discouraged. YMMV.

Obvious variants are NOT discouraged. They just don't produce your name in the "designed by" block.
