OK take the rule proposals and use the new thread, it should work.

Does anyone have any requests for future (post CL45) articles they would like to see for Galactic Conquest? I turned in two that may make CL45 or may be split between 45 & 46. I don't have any ideas in mind at the present time.

The queued for future publication articles cover construction and conversion of ships.

I am.curious I came across galactic conquest and I am wanting to know what I would need to buy besides the galactic conquest rule book if I want to play this just between me and some friends and familym the only game I do have is federation and empire 2000. does this game have about the same amount of learning curve that f and e has? also what is the difference between this and war lord?

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Tuesday, August 07, 2012 - 03:56 pm: Edit

You need the GC rulebook. You'd want the relevant Star Fleet Battles products or G3 (you'll miss some minor details with the G3 annexes only, as some of the R module description of ships have esocteric details).

Probably similar complexity to F&E, just in different areas.

You may be able to sub Federation Commander for the SFB bits, although we've never done so. The games are similar enough that I suspect you'd not lose very much (beyond fighters and PFs). I'm not a FC expert though, so don't quote me there.

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Wednesday, August 08, 2012 - 11:45 am: Edit

Rob-
FF, DD, CL, CA are all catamarans.
DW, CW, BC, DN are the trimaran versions (FF->DW, etc.).

Bad furball! Some of us did this from memory.

I just got off the phone with Rob Callaway. He is still in the hospital but is in good spirits. He sends his best to all of you and asked me to post this information.

Thanks Jean,

All,

I survived Hurricane Sandy (Washington DC Metro area). I hope everyone else that was touched by Sandy is ok. It is hard to believe that the NY city subways were flooded and will be out of service for weeks.

John, I'm glad to hear from you. I was worried.

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 - 12:28 pm: Edit

Columbia MD had some power outages (I had power for 15 minutes yesterday morning, and an hour in the afternoon before it came back @ 11:30PM- total duration 27.5H), and the occasional tree fell over. The Derecho in June was worse in many respects- never got below 55 inside (probably didn't crack 59), which is much easier to handle than 90+.

By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 - 01:21 pm: Edit

I am glad you are ok Howard. Columbia MD is closer to the storm than Vienna Virginia.

My weather vane on the garage clocked winds at 68.8 mph was out of power for 16 hrs here in York, Maine

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, November 05, 2012 - 09:37 am: Edit

John, glad you made it through safe as well. :)

By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Monday, November 05, 2012 - 12:41 pm: Edit

A weather aficionado eh? Cool!

By Howard Bampton (Bampton) on Monday, November 05, 2012 - 01:46 pm: Edit

The King of Prussia PA to Columbia MD run was much less fun to drive this morning than last Monday's. No 15' high water plumes, no reduced visibility, no need for me to be in the far left lane, barely any reason/time to not be driving with the cruise control on.

Plus to get to sleep in an extra hour!

We just bought this 4,060 square foot house in June. Now I got PCS orders. I am going to have to move to Garner North Carolina. I got a job as a Platoon Sergeant of an Area Clearance Platoon.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, November 12, 2012 - 10:59 am: Edit

Garner is not that far from here -- only a few hours. :)
