How about a simulator weapon based on a Romulan rumor that Lyran scientists working with Romulan scientists have modified an ESG to be installed on Romulan ships that can reduce the warhead of Plasma Torpedoes, QWTs and PPD waves. When modified this way to stop plasma energy it will not react with drones, shuttles or hellbores. Sorta an Eastern model ESG instead of a western model ESG.

I want it to work on envelopers and not give away a pseudo-torpedo.

that would mean a pseudo-torpedo would have to damg the esg. Just not the ship

In my story in Captain's Log 30 I explained sort of how the ESG works. Although while in a published story this should not be taken as official unless SVC specifically says so. (Besides, this might be how he designed it from the start and I just read it from his mind during our PD Tholians mind meld while at the GAMA Trade Show in Las Vegas.)
Basically the ESG had two components, a sensing field and the energy field. Any place the sensing field encounters an object it draws all the energy to that point. Multiple objects will draw the energy equally between them.
So a device like this would expend the energy on any plasma torpedo without preference to the type. Since it would believe the pseudo to be a regular plasma the energy would be expended on it in any case, this the pseudo torpedo's identity would be kept secret. That is, the plasma doesn't damage the field, the field does damage to the torpedo.
So, PPTs would be a viable counter to this device. Of course, it's up to the plasma player if they want to spend the PPT on this. Since the field doesn't do anything else... why not. But also, PPTs are limited so the device gains in usefulness once those are expended.

I don't think this is something the game needs.

The game doesn't really need anything except more players, but it doesn't hurt to have this in the simulator.
A few other questions arise: if it doesn't work on shuttles, how about on fighters? PFs? Ships? Mines? And how much damage would it do to the plasma? 1:1 seems a bit good, but 1:2 is too weak. And is it a separate weapon or just a distinct firing mode?
