Wait so Chris is Wolverine and Peter is Rogue? Who is Mike?
Peter I had you pegged more as a Professor X but hey.

How about this: The "A" in APB stands not for Andy, but for Apocalypse. He is pure evil and has selfish motives.

I always go for Colossus, myself. Ya know, works as a Gorn.

Depending on how obscure you want to get Quill or Gambit, Kzinti and all. Need the projectiles.

Archangel had those metal feathers he'd shoot.

I am playing Kzinti, we consider birds as food.

The initial pool is under construction at press time. I got the teams allocated into the grids, and now need to come up with matchups.

In the name of full disclosure, here is my plan for match ups:

1) Based on Schirmer ratings, I'm going to give each player a top 3rd opponent, a middle 3rd opponent, and a bottom 3rd opponent if at all possible.

2) I'm going to try my darnedest to avoid civil wars.

3) I'm going to start at the top (teams are arrayed alphabetically) and just start assigning opponents based on the above 2 points and see how that goes. It might take a bit of jimmying to make it all work, but that is the plan.

If all goes well, I'll get the pool up by this evening some time. But I gotta mow the lawn and play my RAT game today as well.

So I'm putting together the pools. And it seems like it should be easy to just slot folks in. But apparently not.

I need to have each team fight each other team exactly once. I'm trying to have each opponent get an even spread of opponents based on skill (i.e. a captain, a middle, and a lower end). I'm trying to avoid civil wars (which really only was something I had to twek for once).

And yet I get to the end of the list, and discover that the last pssible match up us Sir_Krotar vs Spartan. Except that Sir_Krotar is *already* matched against Spartan. Gah. And I have no idea how to fix it yet.

Time to take a break.

Ok, so in error hunting in the pool, I discovered what caused the error (I made some guy in the middle fight the same opponent twice), but that propagated into so much error that I couldn't just fix it the normal way. So I had to scrap the whole thing and start over. I'll try again tomorrow.

best of luck Pete, I'm rooting for you

Ok. So I got an initial pool list:

http://www.lightlink.com/pdb6/WLRoundRobin.html

It is possible that what I was trying to do was completely impossible--I'm not a master of combinatrixes or whatever. I got *close*, but when I got to the bottom, a few people ended up with not a perfect match up list, i.e. I was trying to make sure that everyone had an opponent who was top 3rd, middle 3rd, bottom 3rd; I had to have only 1 match up per team per team; I was avoiding civil wars (which wasn't hard and I suspect not an actual problem in the system).

In the end, a few people have wonky match ups (i.e. someone has a top 3rd and 2 bottom 3rds; someone has 2 middle 3rds and a bottom 3rd, but no top 3rd).

Don't take this pool as gospel yet--it is possible it will change in the next day or so if someone looks at it and figures out a way to make it work better (with minor tweaks). Anyone?

In one of the listings Lord Goofy is listed as flying the GBS 11g1.

It is likely this all will completely change shortly.

Awesome! He totally gets to win that fight!

looks alright to me. Can we get a breakdown on how many of each hull were picked?

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 - 02:24 pm: Edit

I'm sure someone can do that who isn't me and trying to make the pool work out. I vote for Matt!

Ok! This time for sure!

Here is the new pool:

http://www.lightlink.com/pdb6/WLRoundRobin.html

I *think* it is correct. I think everyone has 3 levels of opponent. I think each team plays each other team only once. I think we avoided civil wars. Someone look it over and see if there are any egregious errors (like someone playing someone who isn't playing them back), and if I get a couple "Yeah, looks good!", I'll go with it.

Thanks to the people who helped figure this out. I don't know what kind of black magic you used, but I gotta learn that.
