(A12.30) New Legendary Officers
f) Master Tactician (MT)*
In combat an MT can either give the SQ he is in FF-I (or increase FF one level), or down grade an enemy SQ's FF status. Once per battle he can force a reroll of damage for his or his opponents side. He allows his SQ to have +5% into reserve (or 1). Only one MT can function is a combat group (See A12.32b). He may not use the reroll ability during a WS or FLY battle.
g) Repair Sergeant (RS)
An RS completely repairs a ship he is assigned one segment after any battle anywhere. He increases the SRV of a repair ship he is attached to by two ships/turn.
h) Legendary Trade Official (TO)*
A TO is assigned to a single TP and adds +15% or 50 EPs (whichever is greater) each turn. If the TP is raided, there is a 50% chance he will be killed. If assigned to a friendly system, he swings the morale by 4 in the most favorable way for his empire.
i) Electronics Specialist (ES)
In combat he may chose to nullify one enemy ship's special attack each round on a roll of 1- 4d6. He may also see and nullify any SJ or decoy sensor 75% of the time.
j) Master Financier (MS)*
If an MS is assigned to the GBC, he shifts all transactions for his empire +15% in favor (to a maximum of 150 EPs). If assigned to a ship and that ship heads into a friendly system (including allied,) he will grant that ship 10 EPs as if it were from EMM. He increases the morale of any friendly/allied system he is visiting by 1.
k) FTR SQ Commander (Wing Commander)/PF/INT Commander (Wing Commander)
A SQ commander is assigned to a FTR SQ or Flotilla. He adds 20%% to the AF and DF of the unit he commands. If he actually goes out with the unit in combat, he doubles these values (but shares their fate).
l) Legendary Explorer (LX)
An LX adds 0.5% to the MRR of the SR he is assigned each turn. This stacks with any and all other rules that increase/decrease MRR rates. Only one LX can be in a MRR group. Any ship he is in surveys space twice as fast.
*= See C14.50, they may also NOT be replicated by PT.

They look good to me. They should add some additional flare to the Legendary officer rules.

I think the new LOs will add spice to the game, that said I do not agree with everything. Below is what I think should be changed.
f)MT: Can force a reroll of damage to his or his opponents side once per turn rather than battle. Makes him required to be more selective with his rerolls.
g)RS do not believe he should be able to repair a crippled ship. That extent of damage should only be able to be repaired in a SY.
I)ES should only be able to apply his trade if he is on a ESS ship. He is a specialist and should be on a special ship.

The formatting on my computer is a little wacky so I'm going to break out the charts in case someone else has the same problem.

May I propose an addition to the Leg Engineer, He should be able to reduce the chance of a Computer Operated ship going berserk by die roll of 1 so only on a 2 does it go Berserk instead of the 2 or 3 that it is now.

I'm not a fan of most of them. Can't see an officer gaining financial or trading experience on a war ship.
The MT seems OP, too many perks.
The RS is ok, but I agree that crippled ships should be beyond his ability.
The ES ability to defeat SJ & decoys seems OP, while his other ability is situationally OP.
The Wing Commander I feel is the best proposal as is.
The LX is ok....
My two cents......

The MT reroll ability..........
How often and when can he use it? How many rolls does he get?
By John D Berg (Kerg) on Saturday, January 10, 2015 - 07:39 pm: Edit |
Oops...he no longer has that ability...so delete the last sentence
