When reading the Doomwood story in the Hailing Frequencies archive, I thought "how cool would it be if we had ships that were native to that dimension/continuum/galaxy. I was wondering if anyone was willing to step up to the plate to do this. If not then I guess I will, but it won't be very good either.

I wrote the story and have sketched out the tech.

ADB is too busy currently to evaluate new empires.

I HAVEN'T done SSDs, but given the outlines I have they should be pretty straightforward.

I'll see if I can dig up some of the notes I made.

ps, you DID find the Doomward story (from the othersides POV) in the CL suppliment?

That story didn't get anywhere near as much polishing as the other, but I still like it.

The CL38 Supplimental has my "anti story" about the empire the Doomward faced. Buy it for just $5! (or so).

They aren't as bad as the story makes it seem (I just re-read it; it HAS been something like 7 years since I wrote it); they were operating under some pretty huge disadvantages that the Lyrans never really see/ understand. One of their major weapons systems is completely useless in the vortex cloud.

Their goals are so different that the Lyrans were VERY right to "take it to the matresses" rather than messing around too long. Note that the "Anti's" knew EXACTLY how long the Vortex would last and where they were. Both bits of information the Lyrans didn't have to their detriment.

I like to think of them as Militant Telepathic Social Workers with a firm idea of what YOU need to do to shape up, and the means to make you do so...
