By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Saturday, November 28, 2015 - 08:49 am: Edit

Progress report with ca. 5 weeks to go on Phase 1:
Excluded are:
all SC5 and SC6 units
all W- and Y- era units
all simulator, Omega, and Magellanic units
"Brothers of the Anarchist"
bases and auxiliaries within individual empire listings

ANDROMEDAN 53 left (no progress)

FEDERATION 188 left (no progress)

GORN 90 left (minimal progress)

HYDRAN 24 left (minimal progress, about 1/3 of the remainder is SSJ and SFT weirdness)

ISC 54 left (no progress) NB: Something seems to be seriously screwed up with the ISC library in SFBOL, there are a lot of ships with counters, but no associated SSD)

JINDARIAN 6 left (no progress)

KLINGON 86 left (no progress, major remaining elements are the E3, E4, F5, and all variants thereof as well as most of the D6 variants)

KZINTI 15 left (no progress, 12 of these are pods)

LDR 39 left (no progress)

LYRAN 97 left (no progress)

ORION 30 left (no progress - NB higher than the last list because of a filter error on my part)

PARAVIAN 1 left (effectively done, since the one holdout is a superseded SSJ remainder)

ROMULAN 143 left (minor progress)

SELTORIAN 3 left (essentially done, remainder are 1 pod and 2 SFT weirdos)

THOLIAN 94 left (no progress)

VUDAR 9 left (no progress)

WYN 15 left (minimal progress)

And an unofficial list of conversions by author as of this morning.

NOTES:
1. This is based entirely off of what is in the SFBOL Library, under the "Submitted By" field
2. There are 102 3G definitions that do not list an author, so some people's totals will be higher (potentially much higher) than what is listed here. If any of the folks listed below would like a copy of the "nameless" list, shoot me an e-mail (address in profile).
3. I profoundly apologize to anyone whose name I have missed.

Matthew Potter: 470
Frank Lemay: 385
Jason Schaff: 148
Patrick Dillman: 40
Sebastian Palozzi: 29
Hugo Viftigschild: 13
Merl Dewitt: 9
Roger Rairdain: 7
Greg Diekhaus: 5
Chad Carew: 2
Josh Driscol: 1

(EDIT - corrected Frank's total; his name was misspelled on a few ships and didn't filter properly)

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, November 29, 2015 - 09:21 am: Edit

Adjustments to above, based on a couple missed entries, a couple mistaken credits for 2G designs prior to the 3G project, and a batch of ships Paul just uploaded:

NO LISTED AUTHOR: 102

Matthew Potter: 473
Frank Lemay: 392
Jason Schaff: 148
Patrick Dillman: 40
Sebastian Palozzi: 29
Josh Driscol: 17
Merl Dewitt: 9
Roger Rairdain: 7
Greg Diekhaus: 5
Chad Carew: 2
Paul Scott: 1
Hugo Viftigschild: 1

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, November 29, 2015 - 10:43 am: Edit

Tracked down 21 (all of them Jindarian) of the unlisted 3G defs as creditable to Matt, upping him to 494.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, November 29, 2015 - 11:00 am: Edit

And 18 uncredited Gorn are the work of Frank, upping him to 410.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, November 29, 2015 - 01:07 pm: Edit

!8 uncredited LDR and 39 uncredited Lyrans determined to be Matt's work, bringing him to 551.

1 uncredited Lyran determined to be Frank's work, bringing him to 411.

Only 5 uncredited 3G definitions remain to be resolved, all of them Romulan.

SPECIAL NOTE:
There are a few instances where people combined two very similar 2G definitions into a single 3G definition, with one ship treated as a "refit" of the other. IMO, these should be credited as 2 conversions, but I have no way of tracking this, since I can only check what is in the library at the present time, not what used to be there.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, November 29, 2015 - 03:12 pm: Edit

_finally_ tracked down the 5 uncredited Romulans; they are the work of Merl Dewitt, bringing his total to 14.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Friday, December 04, 2015 - 09:53 pm: Edit

Updated numbers with many thanks to Paul Franz and Matthew Potter for tracking down a bunch of definitions that had gone missing and correcting some mistaken assignments of credit. Also, some instances where two 3G versions had ended up in the Library have been accounted for.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, December 21, 2015 - 02:34 pm: Edit

Because of my slow surgical recovery, the deadline to remove the noted group of second generation SSDs is extended to 31 Jan 2016. There will be no further extensions.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, December 27, 2015 - 11:29 am: Edit

Status update as of December 25.

The following excludes all Omega, Magellanic, and simulator races and all PFs and interceptors.

Phase II includes "civilian units" which, absent a more clear definition, I took to mean anything not otherwise listed which would not qualify as a "ship" under F&E rules and Y and W era units.

Phase Ib includes all packs, pods, modules, pallets, etc and any ships which have only ever appeared in SFT, SSJ, CL, or a similar source. Note for the viewing gallery; the general consensus among those doing conversions seems to be that any Ib ships which would require custom art will be allowed to join the Black Fleet.

REMAINING TO BE CONVERTED

Andromedan - 39 Ia, 3 Ib, 27 II
Federation - 103 Ia, 36 Ib, 39 II
Gorn - 50 Ia, 33 Ib, 32 II

LDR - 33 Ia, 9 Ib, 1 II
Lyran - 66 Ia, 36 Ib, 16 II

By Gary Carney (Nerroth) on Friday, January 08, 2016 - 12:07 pm: Edit

This is a question that came up on last night's Talkshoe recording:

Do the pre-existing SSDs in the client for the first-generation X-ships from Module X1 incorporate the various updates and errata items published for them in Module X1R (such as certain revised BPVs, the "default" use of things like advanced shuttles or sabot plasma warheads, and so forth)? Or is that something which may need to be added to them in the course of their respective conversions to the new 3rd generation standards?

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Monday, January 18, 2016 - 03:13 pm: Edit

ATTENTION INTERESTED PARTIES

Our Klingon Master Architect has had to step away from the project for the next couple weeks. In order to get things pushed towards completion, would anyone be interested in taking on the D6 class and the undone portions of the F5 class for conversion? (about 25 files total) If yes, please send me an e-mail (address in profile) and I'll send you the necessary files.

I'd like to report an error in the new Federation NCD SSD. The NCD has 4*A rack without the refit. With the refit it has 4*B rack. I loaded an NCD+ on the client and it still shows A-racks. That will need to be fixed at some point. Thanks.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Sunday, February 07, 2016 - 08:12 am: Edit

Please Note:

If you find an error with an SSD, please post it to the author's folder within the "verification folders" topic. Authors are listed in the client's library tool. They are more likely to be noticed there by the person who needs to do the fix.

(above message has been copied over)

Thanks!

Jason

Note for anyone using the 3G Orion definitions.

An issue has cropped up with the Orions that have multiple "centerline" option mounts. The client will not allow different centerline mounts to have different weapons types. i.e. You can set the 3xOPT FA on a BR to 3xDSR, but not to DSR, Ph-1, DRN-B. This is a bug in the client, which Paul is working to fix. In the interim, if you _desperately_ need an Orion configured with mixed centerline weapons for a campaign (only, please!), send me an e-mail (address in profile). There is a way to hack the definitions to make it work, but a separate hack needs to be done for each individual weapons configuration. I don't have the 3G .def files for the CA and DN class ships, and can't help with those.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, February 08, 2016 - 02:10 pm: Edit

I have a metric asteroid ton of requests for ship art over the weekend and will get to them as fast as I can.
