2.1 bakija (WBS) vs crashandburn (LYR)

2.1 bakija (WBS) over crashandburn (LYR)

T1: I move 16 all turn, with 4 standards, 2 suicide shuttles, and 8 reinforcement on my #6. Lyran moves 17 all turn with 4 standards, and probably some reinforcement somewhere that I didn't see. I turn right early, corner dodge. Lyran turns towards me, and then South again before the end of the turn. Impulse 32, I launch 4 drones, we both fire 4 standards on each other's #6. He hit with 3 for 9, doing 1 that sticks. I hit with all 4, doing 12 that sticks.

T2: I move 14 till 11, 26 till 26, then 14 again; Lyran moves 17 till about 8, then 25 all turn. I turn and face him, he turns and faces me. About impulse 9, we are at R9. He speeds up to 25 and shoots me with 4 standards on my #2 for 9 damage. Next impulse, he turns off. I speed up to 26, slip into R8, he shoots my #2 for another 9 with 4xP1. I turn and chase him as he runs. I close in to 5, he announces ESGs. I use 3 batteries to speed up to 28 till the end of the turn. I get into R4, launch a couple drones (now 6 on the map). ESGs go up at R3. I shoot his #4 with 3 of 3 OLs, 1 std (batteries), 6P1s, do about 17 internals, hitting an ESG, a P3, some power, and a bunch of hull. He keeps running, I keep chasing. Impulse 30 or so, I fire 3xP3 into his down shield for 2 more in, hitting hull and control. Impulse 31, he HETs back at me, I slip out to R4, he hits all 6 of my drones with a 15 point ESG, leaving them all alive (3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2). Impulse 32, I turn into him, so we are at R2, #1 to #1 centerlined. 2 of my drones are at R1, 4 are at R2. He shoots me in the face for 20 damage with 4xP1 and a P3.

T3: I overload all 4 disruptors, rearm my phasers, batteries, hold the 2xSS, move 8 till 4, 4 till 16, 0 till end with a TAC. Lyran moves 0 with 3OL disruptors and rearms phasers. Impulse 1, I expect him to weasel, forgetting that he couldn't, as he just HET. We shoot each other. He hits 3-3 OL and 4P1, doing about 30 internals after some battery reinforcement through my 10 box #1. I hit 4-4 OLs, 6P1s, doing about 24 internals through his 30 box #1 and 8 or 9 reinforcement. I lose a disruptor, 3xP1, power and hull (I forgot to launch a drone, but didn't lose a rack). He loses a disruptor, 3 phasers, a bunch of power. Impulse 2, he takes 2 type I drones for 24 on his #2, thinks and resigns.

He has 4xP1 and probably a couple weasels left. I have 4 drones on the map, 4 drone racks, 2 suicide shuttles, and 5P3s left to shoot. I'll get to R1, move around him, launch 1 drone per impulse (using up phasers and/or weasels), and likely either hit him with a type IV (followed by 5xP3) or some SS (followed by a couple P3).

Now on to Lyran to Victory!

So here is a thing I have encountered. And I in no way mean this to be cranky or complain-y, but mostly befuddling.

One of the guys who still need to play a R1 game responded to me very quickly (which was awesome!) indicating that he was still interested, but then went on to ask if there was a website or something for this tournament. Which I found deeply confusing, as, well, if one does not know about this here discussion forum, how does one end up in this tournament, and know who one's opponent it, etc.?

Like, are there people who are involved with SFBOL and get SFBOL e-mails, but don't know this particular forum exists? How does that even happen?

Haven't heard back yet from Leslie or MetalDog. Which is weird, as they are the Known Quantities in this equation.

If I don't hear back by the end of the weekend, I'll replace them with Dana and Wayne.

Paul, could you adjust the tree, replacing The_Geek with Madman (Dana) in 1.3 (leave ships the same) and replace MetalDog in 1.16 with Zero_G (Wayne), again, same ships.

Wayne,

I've been flying LDR as my "second" ship for years. It is not easy - many veteran players will tell you that LDR is a 'bottom 5' ship.

But the fight vs Big Plasma is probably your best RPS matchup. I'd much rather be fighting one of the Romulans, because 8 Ph1s is a pain in the butt.

But this is a winnable fight.

So I never got any e-mail responses at all from Leslie (The Geek) or Justin (MetalDog).

Are the e-mails in SFBOL not actively used e-mails? Are you guys seeing any of this? Are you just not responding in the name of just ducking out? Like, I don't mind at all that people want to duck out of the event. That's fine. Whatever, man. But, like, just send a note? Quick response of "I'm out. Thanks!" never hurts.

Like, I see Leslie posting on Facebook about SFB and ship models he is making and stuff all the time. But no response at all to SFBOL e-mails. I got nothing.
