Well, we were trying, and all forces were working against us. And by "all forces", I mean, "people who are supposed to play games, and then just don't".

The current R2 still needs the following games to happen:
2.2 Madman WAX Carrol FED

I have no idea what happened here. Dana is still posting an F+E game regularly on this here BBS, so he is alive. But this game has never happened.

2.3 Grim HYD Neonpico RFH

I think this one is actually Romwe vs Grim as a replacement game that is underway. So that is something.

2.7 Sleepy_Cat HYD Sky_Captain ORI

I think this is a "dropped off the face of the earth" situation.

Like, I tried to keep this moving, but, well, there is only so much one can do.

Yeah, I wasn’t at this spot 6 months ago, but right now I’m kinda where Seth is, and it’s not just Masters, it’s the whole situation.

In its heyday, SFBOL would have like, Platinum Hat, 2 RATs, Masters, and World League, so like 5 organized tourney events. These days, to be honest I’d be happy with 3, that would be enough for me. In 2018, we had no Platinum Hat. No World League. One RAT, which took until Mar 2019 to complete, and Masters, which as of Apr 2019 is still stuck in the second round. I’ll generously call it 1 1/3 events in 2018.

I still love the game, love the community, but if this is going to be the level of tournament activity going forward, I really can’t justify the $60 subscription. If things look like they’re turning around, I’ll be back in a heartbeat. I’m not blaming anybody, and I’m not mad, just... disappointed.

My subscription ran out last month.

2.2 I sent an email off in early April right after posting but didn't get a response. I'd also sent one in February I think and didn't hear anything.

Unfortunately my opponent was eager to play in December but I was making multiple business trips around that time.

Romwe replaced Neonpico as my opponent many months ago but it never got updated on the tree. We've played something like 7 turns with me currently having a small-medium advantage. We were planning to finish but he had a lot of travel to do and his account lapsed so it looks like he's just going to concede. Assuming he does concede, my next opponent is Seth who said in a post above that he was going to quit again if nothing happened in two weeks which was five weeks ago so I'm assuming he's out now as well. So I'm in limbo here as to who I'm supposed to be playing...

Rather than declaring this tournament dead or letting it fade away completely as is seems is the current plan, maybe we need a role call of the players left that still want to play and remove those that don't or don't reply in say a week. Since we clearly aren't going to find replacement players, then just advance players against opponents that are removed. We can still change ships though for such players as if they beat that opponent.

So based on responses or rather lack thereof:

Unless we hear from anyone in the bottom half of the tree sometime soon we'll just abolish it. So what we have is just the following:

2.2: Madman advances as a FED to play bakija in 3.1.

2.3/3.2: Grim advances as a GRN to play the winner of Madman/bakija as the final match.

If I missed anyone or anyone else has a better idea speak up. Perhaps we can finish before the new Sapphire Star series.
