Module G3 and Module G3A now available in PDF
"What is this thing, Lieutenant? A Dominator?"
"Negative, Admiral, wrong weapons configuration. Checking database now. Phasers, tractor-repulsors … not a Dominion. Not a Dominatrix. Not a Destructor. Got it! This thing is a Demolisher!"
Long requested by fans, Module G3 - Master Annex File and Module G3A - Supplementary Annexes are now available as PDFs. Fully keyword searchable, these annexes have all sorts of useful information in them. Particularly valuable is the Master Ship Chart with all the ships from Basic Set; Advanced Missions; modules C1-C4, F1, F2, J, J2, K, M, P6, R1-11, C, X1R, Y1, and Y2; and Captain's Logs #1-#38.
Released in 2009, the Module G3 - Master Annex File includes all of the key annexes (except #5) from all of the Alpha Octant products (including the "previously missing" ISC gunboat data, now inserted at the end, along with information about Vudar and Hydran fighters) for Star Fleet Battles. It indexes Basic Set; Advanced Missions; modules C1-C4, F1, F2, J, J2, K, M, P6, R1-11, C, X1R, Y1, and Y2; and Captain's Logs #1-#38.
Module G3 includes the Master Ship Chart, Master Fighter Chart, Master Gunboat (PF) Chart, Sequence of Play, Commander's Option Items, Data on Ships, Weapons Data, Cost of Repair Chart, Tactical Intelligence, Experience Points, Monster Data Table, Index of Play Aids, Symbols on Fighter SSDs, Mech-Link Symbols on SSDs, Shuttle Decks on Bases, Base Rotation Change Costs, Technology Timeline, Master Weapon Charts, Compilation of Convenient Charts, Damage Allocation Chart, and Impulse Chart. It also has an index to Star Fleet Battles.
Module G3A includes even more indexes and annexes to help flesh out your Star Fleet Battles "master book" series. It has the SFB Master Table of Contents (including the rules number and module for any rules and scenarios in the Alpha Octant that appeared in Basic Set; Advanced Missions; modules C1-C4, F1, F2, J, J2, K, M, P6, R1-11, C, X1R, Y1, and Y2; and Captain's Logs #1-#39); Annex #5 (an alphabetical listing of all the abbreviations used in Star Fleet Battles); the Carrier Escort Chart, Master Scenario Index (in order by the scenario number); Master Scenario Chronological Scenario Index; and Index of Scenarios from Omega, Magellanic Cloud, and Triangulum Galaxy. The end of the book has maps of the two halves of the Alpha Octant.
Any serious player of Star Fleet Battles or the SFB Galactic Conquest campaign games needs these modules. Many people have used theirs until they fell apart and have asked for an e-version. We listened to them and here it is!

Jean is there anywhere I can get the information on the Demolisher?
I am an Andro after all;)
By Jeffrey George Anderson (Jeff) on Saturday, May 18, 2019 - 10:34 am: Edit |
Roy, I'm not Jean, but I did find the ship you're looking for. The Demolisher is rule (R10.47) in Module R7, Dreadnaughts at War.
The changes from a classic (R10.2) Dominator are fairly simple; two PA panels from the central front PA bank are removed, the opened up space is used to enable both of the FH TRH to be doubled, and one panel in each of the rear PA banks is removed.
This leaves the ship with...
... 11 FH PA (vice 13 on the classic Dominator)
... 6 TRH, 4 with FH firing arcs (vice 4 and 2 respectively on the classic Dominator)
... 6 RH PA (vice 8 on the classic Dominator)
Phasers remain unchanged. Hangar remains unchanged. Displacement Devices remain unchanged. Warp Drive remains unchanged.
As far as other systems go, I haven't seen any other changes, but I am going from memory with the Dominator, so I may have missed something.
Hope that helps, and I hope you have fun with her (I type with an evil, maniacal, "BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HAAAAAHHH!!" running through my alleged mind... )

Roy, if you had Module G3, you would know all sorts of things such as its BPV, YIS, and Command Rating. And Jeffrey is correct; it is in Module R7.

GWW U7 182.2
The War goes badly for the GP(Galactic Powers). The Khol, trying to mount a GP first offensive into the Red space was unexpectedly attacked in its staging area by a large group of Andros. In all 2xINT,2xINF,2xCOQ joined the attack on the SB staging area were 4xSR, accompanying support ships, and several escort ships were preparing to enter an Andro suspected hideaway. It was either very lucky they found the Khol, or a traitor is among the GP? The PSS seem to have GP scanners completely befuddled. Khol were mauled badly losing the SB, 4 freighters, a CA, SR, and the SB. The Andros lost just over a half dozen PSS. Disaster. Earlier the Andros destroyed a very valuable Khol OMA development and several more units from the merchant marine. The Khol have been unable to visit it two lost systems they placed under quarantine last year, and have heard not a peep since. Who knows what the Andros are doing there? The news in Selt and Qixa space is also bad, perhaps 800EP of merchant material lost. Also several GP are now claiming to have been spied upon by there fellow GP.

Hey John how about a subject:
1)"what R@D do you think needs to be adjusted-why"
2) "what would you like set up for U8,U9,U10 to be"
By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Friday, June 14, 2019 - 12:28 pm: Edit |
Gee Roy, you haven't conquered the galaxy yet! But since you asked....
If it were up to me, I would allow extra conversions in the next game. I have found that there is a great need. There are never enough MS, SC or SR to utilize.
As an example, for SC4 ships, there is ICRI (one extra conversion at War Time). ICRI+ (once researched) would allow two extra SC4 conversions at War Time.
Ibid for the other "conversions".
U8 - Neo-Tholian Invasion - random GP map. The Neo's enter Tholian territory and conquer everyone.
U9 - Seltorian Invasion - traditional GP map with random Seltorian entry points and they conquer everyone in the way until they reach the Tholians.
U10 - Galactic Powers vs the Magelleanic Powers. Will the Galactic powers discover the worm holes in time? The Magelleanic Powers already know where they are and where they lead to!
Retired persons have idle thoughts...

Give me time ;)
I would like to see alliances already set in stone, few minor races involved but they are not in any alliance yet, maybe all the greater alliance partners have 2 or 3 Admirals (helps to teach tactics to newer Admirals) builds comradery,
NPC's have automatic rules i.e. they do not attack a PC if the PC does not attack them, remove the ability for any GP to remove planets from the board (Andro's can;).
By Kurt Byanski (Kurtski) on Friday, June 14, 2019 - 06:14 pm: Edit |
Sometimes minor races aren’t really all that minor. I like the flavor they bring to the game. Tholians should always be available as a player race. They are one of the originals.

Blind map.
1. You only see what you have scouted (or currently scouting)
2. Your intel on other ships is based off of your BPV (example, your CA = 140bpv.. you run into a DD that is 138, you will think it is a CA).
3. No race info until you capture a ship or RnD.
4. Map hex numbering starts at your HW. Everyone's is the same (GM is the only one that has the actual numbers)
5. Races start in random locations (i.e. Feds can end up in a corner)
By Roy Steele (Emperor) on Saturday, June 15, 2019 - 08:58 am: Edit |
The double blind map is a LOT more work for the GM's, we used to do that.
By Kurt Byanski (Kurtski) on Saturday, June 15, 2019 - 09:37 am: Edit |
You could do blind map until a certain year or tech conditions are met. GBC only works for those with the tech.
By John Stiff (Tarkin22180) on Saturday, June 15, 2019 - 12:08 pm: Edit |
One would need well programmed computer to do the blind maps. The GM's have a lot of work to do as is.
In U5/U7 we see the master map. The GM fills in what everyone has explored/conquered.
In U6 we do not see the master map. Everyone sees what each player can see. Once things are discovered on the master map, we all see it. My opinion is that this is the closest to a blind map that can be reasonably accomplished by the GM. Still, it is a bit more work.

"intel on other ships is based off of your BPV"
Nah. It ought to be based on Movement cost to start. Then size class. Then something like "military or civilian grade sensors/ scannners"
Else I could bluff off a couple frigates with a darn monitor. When in real life the monitor would never be able to keep the frigates from anywhere in the entire sector except for the 15 hexes around where it currently is. Heck, a Monitor probably couldn't defend all of Earth, much less Earth and the moon (38 hexes apart).
By Kurt Byanski (Kurtski) on Saturday, June 15, 2019 - 03:08 pm: Edit |
You could do early turns blind...say ~150 - 160. As races discover each other, they would see expanded maps. Contact = see the other race's map. Around 160, the GBC would go active with the whole map being seen. You could do early years as 1 year = 1 turn and have everyone start with 1-3 systems and make them find the rest.
