Comment:

I would have to look at the movement costs, as noted above, but I would also have to adjust the HET breakdown roll and the Turn Mode.

Adding this weight to the leading edge of the ship is going to result in a larger Turn Mode, maybe just C (as noted when the D7 was expanded into the C7), but it could go to D. In any case, the breakdown rating is likely to shift from 5-6 to 4-6, if not 3-6.

I forget, but I assume “internals” includes excess damage but excludes the other tracks?

Somebody might want to check my math, but I think the internals break down like this:

D7W: 105
D7: 95
D6: 91
D5: 81

Adding 11 boxes would take a D7 over the D7W’s box count but the D6 would remain below. Adding the 11 boxes to a D5 would give it about the same box count as a D6.

That would be too many boxes; A D7 can be converted into anything a D6 can be, which would take it over the D7W.

You could still use a D7 for the conversion but you would have to remove some systems (probably the wing phasers) to keep it within weight limits.

Douglas: Removing systems to keep under the weight limits is not an acceptable engineering principle.

Just don't add so much stuff in the first place.

But again, the D7W already exists so you could in theory argue for a D6W (built the way a D7W was built) but this "use a piece of a C8" concept isn't going to work. I think I've gotten to the point of just rejecting it.

As for a D6W, while in theory you could, the hulls are so old that metal fatigue would mean nobody would even try. Until you have converted every D7 into a D7W there is no reason to waste time converting a D6 into a D6W. There are too many useful things a D6 can convert into.
