I'm in! And not playing Gorn!

Go Seltorian Mr. Bakija!
Show us it can win!

I think Pete should be the first to fly the new Klingon Tournament Gunboat.

Is that a G2L with advanced technology, a fighter in a mech link and an SFG?
It would have to have tournament shields I imagine.

Don't forget the mauler canon. Works nice with the X-tech batteries!

Or, since the tourament is named "Sapphire Star", he could fly a Trobrin Star Sapphire frigate leader, as shown here on Shapeways.

Maybe Peter could pick three ships he has not won in and we can vote which one he flies?

Quick, add an early year tourney DN.

Seltorian! Andro (although I'm still not even sure which one it is)! LDR!
I'll take whichever!

the Orion with 4 ADD
By wayne douglas power (Wayne) on Saturday, June 20, 2020 - 11:15 am: Edit |
I am thinking of flying the ISC, Gorn, maybe the Hydran again, WYN or LDR.
The Orion could happen also (I would consider just the one ADD in an option package).
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, June 20, 2020 - 12:14 pm: Edit |
(The Orion should never have any ADDs in an option package; a gatling, Hellbores, P1s, occasionally photons or Plasma Fs. I've seen people do ok with an ADD in one of the Shark's wing options, as that is a thing it can do, but even that is dicey:-).

Not that I'm making a statement here, but what version of the Andro is the version we are using? Hypothetically speaking?

Hope you don't mind, but I posted a note over on the Trek-BBS board saying that the sign-up is now active. Good luck, all.

I will 100% fly whatever version of Andro is possibly being playtested and allowed in this tournament, but I'm not really sure which one it is. in SFBOL, we got:
-Option 1 "Andromedan Krait": 3TRL, 4 battery, 6P2.
-Option 2 "Andromedan Krait (2010 Playtest)": Same as Option 1 (3TRL, 4 battery, 6P2. Might have slightly different hull/cargo layout?).
-Option 3 "Andromedan Krait (Previously Sanctioned)": 2TRH, 4 battery, 8P2. Maybe this is the one that actually has TRLs most of the time?
-Option 4 "Andromedan TKC-2011-Andromedan Krait (Official ADB Playtest)": This is the one with 2TRH, 3 battery, 6P2, limited cargo/hull, and a vestigial hangar bay that has no effect.
-Option 5 "Andromedan TKC-2008-Andromedan Krait 2008 (Playtest)": 2TRH, 4 btty, 8P2, bulky internals (possibly identical to option 3 above).
-Option 6 "Andromedan TKC-OLT-Andromedan Krait OLT (Playtest)": 4TRL, 4 battery, 6P2, bulky internals.
So that's 6 different (well, possibly 5, as options 1 and 2 look mostly identical; they might have minor differences I didn't notice) versions.
The Andromedan that is posted on the official ADB Tournament Info Site is very similar (but not necessarily completely identical? Possibly different amount of hull?) to options 1 and 2 on SFBOL (i.e. 3TRL, 4 battery, 6P2, 28 total power, 9 Hull, 6 cargo).
The one that we were seriously playtesting for a while (and, IIRC, the most recent actual revision/version) is the one listed as Option 4 on SFBOL above (i.e. TKC-2011 Official ADB Playtest), which has 2TRH (which are actual TRHs), 3 batteries, and 6P2. I played this ship a lot at the time (i.e. around 2011) and it was viable, but not overwhelming --the 3 batteries were a *serious* limitation on the ship, and so it seemed strong early on, but generally by mid game, it had to slow down, would get cornered, and then mugged. And I probably went less than 50-50 in the ship, even against Big Plasma (as once the power ran out, the envelopers could actually hit the thing...)
Like, as noted, I'm willing to fly whatever. And I'd be willing to fly an Andro that is arguably underpowered, in the name of more playtest data. Just need to figure out which one we are actually using :-)

I am having trouble trying to sign up, the SFBOL link does not work for me, and nothing in the SFBOL site to enter for Sapphire Star 5.
