Not sure who needs to know but we can not report win/loss for Sapphire #5 as Sapphire #5 is not an option in the drop down list where we do the reporting. Thanks

Report/Loss report link is now working. Sorry for the delay. Forgot to do that when I setup the standings pages

Hey Paul, can you change bevans to Romwe, in the tree?

By David Zimdars (Zimdarsdavid) on Saturday, July 18, 2020 - 08:57 pm: Edit

I believe I've correctly reported my loss to Kingzilla and the loss is reflected in the tree.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Sunday, July 19, 2020 - 10:33 am: Edit

Brian,
It is now fixed.

Kingzilla(Hyd) over Romwe(Selt) in round 2.

Fezzik21 (FED) over bakija (AND)

T1: Fed moves 16 all turn with overloads. Andro moves 24 all turn, rolling the 2xTRL, holding DisDev. Fed just goes forward, slipping towards me. I kinda slip out, hopping to try and get behind him. At about R8, he turns in to his left, so I turn to my left and slip away. But I fail to avoid R4, so the Fed shoots my forward panels at R4 with 4xOL, 6xP1. The OLs hit 3/4, and he does 22 damage with the P1s, for 70 total. I reinforce the panels and take 10 internals, which hit a TRL (1 of 2) and my DisDev. Wah wah. I kinda turn in behind him, and we end at R2, my #2/#3 spine on his #2/#3 spine. I don't shoot, he hits my rear PAs with 2P3s for 8 more damage. At the end of the turn, I absorb 3 energy (all the space in my batteries) and dissipate 1 per panel.

T2: Andro moves 29/23, start to fix my TRL; Fed moves 12/24 split and reloads. Impulse 1, I shoot his #3 with 1xTRL, 4xP2, roll well, do 25 damage! This causes him to use a couple batteries and keeps his shield up at 1 box. I run away, he his 2x 360 P1's at my rear panels at R3, doing another 7 or 8 damage. He comes about and follows me. I can't displace (as my DisDev got exploded before I used it), so I end up running into the SW corner of the map. The Fed just ambles after me. Late in the turn, he gets 4 more P1's at R8 on my rear panels for 9 more damage (rear panels getting full). On impulse 32, we end up at R6, and I turn so my higher capacity forward panels are facing him. I absorb 4 power from my forward panels, 2 from my rears, dissipate a point per panel.

T3: Not much I can do but hope he misses. I move 27 all turn and reload what I can. Impulse 1, the Fed is moving 11. He fires 4xOL at R6 (phasers don't cycle till impulse 3). He hits 3/4 again at R6, does 30 internals through my largely full front panels, and I'm killed (both TRs killed, all 3 batteries killed, all 4x facing P2's killed).

A good quick game!

All this indicated, really, was that if the Fed goes forward, gets a shot on the Andro at R4, and rolls ok, the Andro is going to die. If I had TRH's instead of TRLs, I would have done some internals at the very least, and might have killed a photon for the second volley. If I hadn't have lost the DisDev on the first volley, I probably could have gotten away to clear panels more, but with the DisDev getting blown off instantly, there was no saving me.

Good luck in the next one, Adam!

Yeah. Fed/Andro is like 9/1 favor Fed.

You fought with honor Peter, but it would have taken a miracle for you to have pulled that out.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Monday, July 20, 2020 - 08:58 pm: Edit

Peter,
I agree that the Fed vs. Andromedan is a purely die rolls. If the Fed hits with 4 Fully OL Photons you are toast. And the losing of the DD was very bad luck.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, July 20, 2020 - 08:58 pm: Edit

Me too!

Yeah, I think the only good move, even *with* TRHs, is to get in a turning war at R6+, and try and get behind it. But even then, if you get into R4, the Fed can HET in and kill you again.

I mean, like, with an unlucky photon shot (2/4 instead of 3/4), the Andro has a fighting chance. And even with a 3/4 hit, killing the DisDev is unlikely.

Alas, you get hit by the rock.

Twice!

I'm gonna move the Andro discussion over to the Tournament Ship Changes forum again.

By Adam Hunter (Fezzik21) on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 - 05:11 pm: Edit

I wanted to say a big public Thank You to Peter for being so kind and helpful to a total newbie and then also not doing a table flip when that newbie (who tried at least twice to fire phasers that weren’t ready yet) had the sheer unmitigated gall to win on lucky dice rolls. You are a gentleman and a scholar.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 - 05:55 pm: Edit

Thanks, Adam! Yeah, that was fine--like, in the grand scheme, the Fed is a rough fight for the Andro under the best of circumstances, and you rolled well when it mattered (and killed the DisDev on the first few internals). Which is a thing that can happen, and sometimes does!

Good luck in R2!
