Jason, soon as you can, please.

Robert Kroyer:

At present, the conversion team is almost entirely dealing with getting the remaining 2G defs transferred to 3G, so if it isn't currently in the Library in some form it may be awhile. If the needed ship is just a variant of something that has already been converted (i.e. we already have the art) then post a list here and someone will try to look into it. Be forewarned, however, that real life is biting all 3 of us fairly seriously at the moment so things are likely to be a bit slow.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Saturday, March 11, 2017 - 08:42 am: Edit

How are you guys doing? Any more progress on this?

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 - 08:36 pm: Edit

A fair number of these have been done, particularly early years stuff, over the last few months, but both Frank and I have been way busy lately, and Matt has been putting a lot of effort into updating already done conversions with new features Paul added back in February.

I'm hoping to get back to cleaning out some of my remaining project list within the next month or so. If I get horribly ambitious, I might even post a new status update report (which is not as trivial as it sounds - the Library report file is a rather evil thing)

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 - 11:02 pm: Edit

That is awesome! I was just curious since there hadn't been an update in so long.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, September 14, 2017 - 04:04 am: Edit

I have an email somewhere listing pictures to do for this but I have been busy.

OK, a _VERY_ preliminary list of what still needs to be done for Alpha-Sector, non-simulator, non-PF definitions. In digging through the remaining items, I have found a number of defs that probably should have been on the "Kill List" earlier in the project; I either thought they were in published products, but they turned out to be playtest-only, or I just plain missed them. Once I confer with the other members of the conversion team, I will send Paul a list of ships to be removed. (For those wondering, the Kill List is all defs which both: A - exist only in playtest products and B - are not variants of ships published in "real" products.)

ANDROMEDAN - 12 (8 of these are ground bases, and 2 are augmentation modules)
CARNIVON - 1 (this may actually be done, but I need to dig into some of Matt's base condensation work to be sure)
FEDERATION - 17 (4 of these are submitted, but not yet uploaded, and another 2 are probably kill list)
GORN - 24 (1 is a base that may have been condensed by Matt and 3 are probably kill list)
ISC - 66 (20 are W-era national fleet units and 6 are pods)
KLINGON -3
KZINTI - 1 (this is probably kill list material)
LDR - 4
LYRAN - 10 (2 are probably kill list)
PARAVIAN - 4 (all auxes, and some may have been done in Matt's condensations)
ROMULAN - 9 (6 are ground bases)
SELTORIAN - 1
THOLIAN -2
WYN - 3

TOTAL - 157
Of these, 4 have been submitted, and another 10 are probable kill list candidates, leaving 143 to actually convert. Possibly a few less once I dig in to check Matt's base and aux condensations.

By Jason E. Schaff (Jschaff297061) on Monday, October 16, 2017 - 02:25 pm: Edit

And current total conversions by person, along with counts over 10 for individual empires. If anyone thinks they are being shorted credit, let me know (e-mail addy in profile) and I'll send you a list to check.

Matthew Potter - 942 (38% of total)
(15 Carnivon, 55 FRAX, 182 General, 18 Gorn, 181 Hydran, 64 ISC, 60 Jindarian, 25 LDR, 57 Lyran, 10 Orion, 84 Paravian, 21 Tholian, 56 Vudar)
(NB - this is an absolute minimum; I managed to misplace my file for tracking Matt's condensation of general unit definitions, and am probably undercounting by a few here. I'll rebuild the tracking at some point, but that is a several hour project. Base condensations are not included in the empire counts.)

Jason Schaff - 597 (24% of total)
(15 Federation, 12 ISC, 50 Klingon, 31 LDR, 73 Lyran, 66 Orion, 171 Romulan, 44 Seltorian, 54 Tholian, 76 WYN)

Frank Lemay - 571 (23% of total)
(40 Federation, 106 Gorn, 177 Klingon, 176 Kzinti, 21 Lyran, 30 Tholian)

Sebastian Palozzi - 139 (6% of total)
(125 Federation, 11 Tholian)

Joshua Driscol - 67
(18 Klingon, 49 Federation)

Paul Franz - 62
(all Andromedan)

Patrick Dillman - 52
(all Romulan)

Merl Dewitt - 14
(all Romulan)

Roger Rairdain - 7
(all Romulan)

Greg Diekhaus - 5
(all Romulan)

NOMINAL TOTAL CONVERSION COUNT - 2,456

So much great progress!

There is a mistake on the 3G hunter FF and its variants. There is a ph-1 FA where it is supposed to be a ph-2 FA

I've noticed that the per-person folders have been deleted. Also that the option to create/view "old" SSDs has been removed from the client. Does this mean that we've stopped counting 3rd Gen SSDs?

If so, let's announce the fact, get the final counts, and hand out the official end-of-project honors.

If not, let's bring back the ability to create/view "old" SSDs through the client. I won't be able to continue the project without that feature.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 01:43 am: Edit

I thought we had finished the project and handed out the medals two years ago in CL52. We released The Master Annex PDF based on the removal of the old SSDs. They bloody well better NEVER come back.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 10:20 am: Edit

Speaking of that, can I delete everything from March 10th back.

By Matthew Potter (Neonpico) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 12:16 pm: Edit

Wasn't there some sort of Medal to be given out at the project end? It was described (along with the project ribbons that already have been given out) in the individual sections that just recently got deleted. I'd assumed that since the medal hasn't been handed out, the project hasn't been officially finished. Besides which, I've been seeing that Frank Lemay is making some headway recently. I've been updating the appearance of the SSDs I've already put together and might manage to put together a few more that haven't yet been submitted.

We gave out a ton of medals for this project.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 01:12 pm: Edit

Matthew Potter: You have had SEVEN medals for SFBOL3G on the wall of honor for two years now.

There may be one medal missing for Matt. I can't find the right post at the moment, but my _recollection_ is that there was supposed to have been a special medal for whoever did the greatest total number of conversions. If so, Matt definitely gets that one. Even if Frank were to do every single one of the remaining handful of 2G defs still out there, Matt still wins the prize.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 11:00 am: Edit

Find the data and let me know.

By Francois Lemay (Princeton) on Sunday, July 21, 2019 - 06:28 pm: Edit

Marcel,
I have corrected the incorrect phaser type for all the Hydran FF variants.
Let me know if I have missed one.

Thanks.
Cheers
Frank

I wonder if some one can help me? I was looking through the Federation CV on the client and I came across a CVN heavy carrier. Where was this published as I can't find it and does it really carry 80 fighters as its shown on the client ?

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, February 03, 2021 - 09:39 am: Edit

I imagine it was a "Halloween Special" scary ship that ADB puts out once in a while for comedy.

There are a lot of "comedy" SSDs out there that were officially printed by ADB, but not "official" ships (in so much as they are historical units). So if you find an SSD that looks completely absurd, it is probably a joke ship.

By Jeff Anderson (Jga) on Wednesday, February 03, 2021 - 12:26 pm: Edit

From Star Fleet Times Issue #9

(R2.963) FEDERATION CVN: What would a 1990's fleet aircraft carrier look like in SFB terms? Now you know! 72 fighters (in an exception to the normal limits), but no offensive armament of its own. This is a simulator ship; the "real" Federation never even thought of building this thing.

Simulator ONLY

Breaks Canon SFB rules (number of fighters permitted in a scenario)

Coalition fans can breathe a sigh of relief :)

The Fed PFF on the client gives me the PF SSD. Could someone take a look and fix please?
