The War continues. 2 GP have been hurt by Andro attacks, the Rom and for the second straight turn the Qixa. A flight of 9xPYT buzzed one QIXA system as a diversion, but then an Andro task force moved to attack another Qixa system. Not what it once was, the Andros were able to only kill a BB and a very large commercial base before leaving the field, but significant economic damage has again be done to the QIXA. GWW estimates that the QIXA have lost 20-25% of its economic strength since these attacks began.

 

The same roving Andro task force that had been antagonizing the Roms pulled into another system this turn, not as strong as before but very much determined to poison the system. The Andros stayed for a record length of time, in the end the system was poisoned. Like the QIXA GWW estimates the Roms have lost 15-20% of its economic strength.

 

It is still not quite clear if it’s a weapon or semi natural phenomenon, the shots of red plasma from the Andromeda Galaxy continue to hit the Milky Way. For the first time however a change has been noted. To date all these “attacks” have be 2 shots at the Milky Way each turn, but now the shots/turn have doubled to 4. Ominous to say the least.

 

The merchant marine economic losses continued and a survey area has been lost.  

 

GWW has rumors that certain advance tech are in production and being tests in several empires. We cannot divulge who, but at least 4 empires have 2X ships in production of the ability to use advance extra-galactic MV.

 

So….

The super high speed movement between galaxies is still theoretical, but tests have begun.

Normal movement to other galaxies is not feasible.

New, super advanced ships will probably be needed, and perhaps a handful are known to exist.

New forms of supply will need to be developed, of which known are even known.

GP know that 2 galaxies seem to be involved, one is called the HUB and the other ANDROMEDA, but no detailed astronomical observations of any great detail have occurred.

The estimated cost of mounting an operation to just one galaxy is 1/3 the total Galactic Power GNP.

The estimated research outlay needs to be in the 10,000 of thousands of economic points.

The War grinds on with no end in sight. Two new GP have been hit this turn by Andro attacks, the Kzinti and the Selts. Perhaps the Andros have a limited supply of ships bc the usual empires being attacked have seen no action (Roms and Qixa). It also seems that finding an Andro base, as the Kzinti did, bring retribution. A Kzinti system was hammered by a huge Andro task force, Kzinti not only lost an entire command SQ, but the system was poisoned, and is often the case the Andro lose little. Out of the blue a Selt system has been whacked hard by yet another huge Andro task force, this time not only was the system poisoned but a HVS was caught in a very large SHIVA attack and destroyed as it tried to flee. In some positive news the Romulans not only found a Andro base this turn they found a BIG one. Now classified by galactic intelligence as a Andro BATS, it was found by a Hunter-Killer SQ from the Romulan Empire. Thinking it was just a up armed SAT the Romulan Hunter-Killer SQ moved to eliminate the Andro BATS. Then things began to go “south” as they say on Sol. A dense field of 18xDefSat started off the challenge, finding the BATS with 2 xEML attached continued the fun, and finally and most disturbing, a Andro MIS class vessel charged a FHKo and self destructed on cue before it could be stopped. This new Andro weapon has concerns. The warhead yield from just this one specially made MIS-SS ship was 500AF. Seems the hangers were loaded with antimatter explosives, and if they can do this with motherships that have larger numbers of hangers, its gonna make a BIG explosion. The Romulans had to retreat from the battle and leave the Andro BATS alone.
Some good news! GWW has breaking news; several GP have a cure for the poison that afflicts systems the Andros visit. It not known how it will be distributed throughout the galaxy or how much it will cost, but this is indeed great news. More good news, The QIXA have developed technology to slow the Red menace! Again its not known how much it will cost to pass it around to the rest of the GP. This would be a reasonably good year for the GP if were not for a very disturbing event.

At the very beginning of the turn the Milky Way Galaxy erupted in a huge energy surge. In perhaps 20 sectors across the galaxy whole area of space were consumed in some kind of negative energy event. It unclear if its a new Andro weapon, or the result of other events. The GP are thinking its a weapon b/c it seemed to target our most precious ship type, the Survey cruiser. We have unconfirmed reports that no less than 17xSR, from across the galaxy have been lost. Clearly this is concerning b/c the GP cant continue to lose that many specialty ships each turn. Frantic R and D projects are now under development to find a counter to this energy event.

For the first time the Feds report Andro activity in their space. We have also confirmed the “Red Shots” must have some sort of randomness to them as we saw a Red shot hit a red hex for no effect.

In an exclusive for GWW, our sources in Thol space have reported that the Thol have traded for 2X tech from several unnamed empires. This means we finally have some second generation technology to throw into the war. Little is known about this new class of high tech design, but the GWW will find out.

Ahem. Retired usually means old, but not everyone retired is old.

You can retire because you have been severely injured. There is an old story about a service member who was "medically retired" because of injures when he had not even completed training. (A tank ran into the bleachers he was in with other Cadets, so if not for the fact that he was a College Student who was "Active Duty for Training" he would not have been "retired" medically from the Army.) So you can retire in many ways very, very young. You just might not be fit enough to enjoy your retirement.

The War has reached new lows. Quite the controversy is developing over QIXA military strategy at the moment. The system of BATH was attacked a second time by the Andros, however this time the QIXA military fled the system during the battle, taking not a loss. The tragedy is those military units sat back and watched as planetary charges were placed and the system was annihilated. All colonists have been lost. Many QIXA systems are wondering how reliable the military is in defending them? Will they too be abandon? QIXA military has quite the PR problem. A SHV was seen in the battle.

After harassing some Fed survey sites a new record for Andro task forces struck at one of the three northern Rom systems in sector V47. With near 2000AF and over 60 ships the Andros were unstoppable. The system has been reduced to rubble despite over half of the Rom military trying to charge and ram Andro motherships out of desperation. Only a small mother ship was hit. The GWW wonders how the Roms plan on defending themselves since the system was lightly built up in terms of the current meta. What are the Romulans doing with all their money? Why aren't Rom systems built up with massive defensive structures? Murmurs have begun around other Rom systems on perceive or real lack of preparedness.

In a series of more interesting battles, it seems the Kzinti have finally gone on the offensive. For the first time major battles have happened NOT at systems. Using special hunter-killer XSQ Kzinti were attacked twice by Andro forces. Many high quality X ships and crews were lost, BUT much intel has been gathered, and we fought the enemy on our terms. Its unclear if the Kzinti can continue such a attrition war with such expensive and high quality crews, never-the-less its seems to be a strategic milestone for the galaxy.

The great surge seems to have petered out, only a few instances have been recorded, compared to last turn when over 20 hexes were struck. This does seem to be a Andro weapon.

Red shots are quite effective this turn as 2 Selt systems now have the energy anomalies of Red Space beginning. Do they have the tech to slow or stop it? Can they get the tech in time if they dont have it?

In an exclusive by GWW, but due to secrecy we cant say which empire(s) have confirmed it, but the galaxy does indeed have one or more of the new second generation X ships around. This is a positive development. Apparently MANY technology issues and scientific issues remain on getting to the Andromedan home systems, but at least the GP can say they have begun.

What should be a new decade, a new era, has quietly slipped into the stagnation of a war of extermination. So hope and good news is what we look for today.
We fight back!!! Romulans launch a large offensive against an Andro BATS and crush it, suffering almost no losses. Even better is that for the first time we, the GP, have fielded a second generation XSQ. No more a rumor or vague myth, the Romulans used a massively powerful 2X SQ in action. Its time to find a way to take the War to the Andros!
The Roms paid a price for this offensive, because as they were killing the Andro BATS, the Andros attacked three Rom systems. After establishing space control the Andros set planetary charges and annihilated Rom systems of Trajan and Valarian, and the millions of colonists. A third system has been infected with the Andro pestilence.
The Seltorains also lost a system to the Andro plague.
The Kzinti lost from what has been accounted as a fairly substantial convoy.
Red shots continue to pepper the Milky Way, a Canadian system has been hit.
So….

Andromedans found on other galaxy!!!!!!

Since the Galactic Power probe has been detected by the Andros we have had the censor lifted. We know of two other galaxies that may harbor Andro activity (other than the Milky Way), one called the “Hub” a small irregular galaxy close to the Milky Way, and the Andromeda Galaxy, very far away. Up until now both were just vague smudges of strategic space matter, but now we have found a way to send a very special probe to the nearest galaxy “Hub”. Details of the actual probe are still classified, but we can now say definitively the Andromdans are in the Hub galaxy. Just before the probe was jammed it detected a huge Andro base, it was like an X tech star base. We have a target!

Romulans are paying for their 190.1 offensive, another Romulans system has been reduced to the stone age. This massive Andro task force, perhaps 10,000BPV strong proved too much for the brave defenders.
It seems Andros have sprung a new tactic, hitting MRR sites (places where SRs are developing new systems). Qixa lost two MRR areas and the Lyrans and Kzinti each lost one. And finally, in Kzinti space, a small Kzinti XSQ was wiped out, again by a huge 7000BPV Andro task force.

We need these new second generation X fleets fast. Will the rumors of high tech anti Andro system defenses ever come true? Right now the Galactic Powers appear helpless. In both large battles the enemy didnt even take any losses. The large size of the enemy and the massive EW platforms they have are reducing our counter strikes to almost nothing. In other bad news... Andros have been seen with AAP tech (very advanced kind of special sensors). They seem to be stealing Galactic Powers tech!

Several Selt systems have succumbed to the Andro poison attacks from 6months back.

When will help come for the Romulans? Are they too proud to ask?


Red shots (areas in space hit with massive radiation) continue to pepper the Milky Way, but a few empires now have the ability to reverse this radiation.

From a U9 reporter at the scene of a Andro attack on a Selt system......

- As the Andros pulled in the Selt navy closed and a huge exchange of
fire occurred, again and again the Selts poured fire into a INX,
finally it was overcome and exploded. Their large DOM/DVR ships hid
in the back, but the SHV managed to slip by and take out the QCB with
a massive discharge of energy, which seriously reduced the GWW
coverage thereafter. After the second pass the Andros took out all
the DDX of the Selts, but before they went down they in turn
destroyed several X COBs.
As
the battle continued hour after hour it was clear the Selts were
getting worn down, with the Andros trying to reduce the EW advantage
of the Selts, and soon after some odd attack on the 6xBHB, the Andros
were in full control of the EW battlefield. At this point the Selts
seemed to just want to force the Andros to disengage since they
seemed not to have much stomach for fighting (they had a 30%DI).
Near
the end most naval forces were lost and just the HVSBB stood between
the Andros and the system, for an hour the Andros hammered the HVS,
and it continued to fight, we could see fires starting and then put
out, systems shorting out and restored, the crew was magnificent.
Finally, several PYTH moved to point blank range and finished it off.
Eventually what was left of our forces began to just shoot to score
damage hoping we could encourage them to leave, finally they
announced disengagement, but sent down a poison ship that very turn
which we were powerless to stop. Before we could give them a parting
gift they seem to vanish in a blur, and then were gone. All Selt
naval units gone. Selts BP forces apparently did gain valuable intel
on IPSS by boarding it. We did see the LC of the HVSBB on the SB
after the HVS was lost! A Klingon 2X SQ just arrived so we feel
relieved. Quarantine procedures are starting as GWW writes this
report.
