1.2 AdmiralDZZI(Kzinti) v Devil(Shark BB) -DO NOT KNOW WHERE THIS STANDS
1.3 Madman(Klingon) v Cadet_Stimpy(Hydran)- Imminent. They are in constant contact
1.4 bakija(Vudar!) v MadJack(Kzinti)W
1.5 Moose(Aux11g1)L v kingzilla(TKR)W
1.6 CaptainRon(ATC) v The_Hood (TKE) _DO NOT KNOW WHERE THIS STANDS
1.7 Zero_G (Orion H1g1B/FFgff) v GaiusFrackingBaltar(Kzinti) GFB was waiting for ZG yesterday, do not know if it came to fruition
1.8 Greg_T(Gorn) v Spartan(TKR) Spartan has made contact. Not sure what else has happened,
Let's get these games scheduled by this Thursday 3/17. IF someone is unresponsive by that date, we will look into a replacement. There needs to be time to get the game done by 3/26 midnight Eastern.

Heh. I chose poorly.
I think as the VUD, I'd have a fighting chance against KLI (not that many drones), HYD, ATC, maybe ORI. And probably do better against big plasma than the FED, but not much.
I think the Kzinti, WAX, and Shark are likely overmatched against the VUD (lots of drones; the single IPG isn't that hot against lots of drones).

Peter,
Is it your impression that the Vudar has better energy situations than the Fed? It seems like it should. But maybe your don't win as many games just by jackpotting heavy weapons.
I would think the Vudar has trouble with a Hydran that played for the overrun, but maybe I just have an irrational fear of fusion death.
You probably butcher an Andro... so you've got that going for you.

It's faster (it has 40 power instead of 38 power; the torps are cheaper to arm) and hits a little better, and has the 2xFX ICs. All of this helps against plasma. But probably not so much that it is likely to make that big of a difference overall. And the IPG is largely useless against big plasma (it can't even kill a single shuttle outright, and spending 4 saved power, just so you also have to fire a phaser at the shuttle is just extra demoralizing :-).
>>I would think the Vudar has trouble with a Hydran that played for the overrun, but maybe I just have an irrational fear of fusion death>>
Against the Hydran, I think it can do just fine by setting up a late turn R5 shot where it isn't unlikely to do 60 damage, then HET and run. This is the optimal situation for the VUD against most opponents, but if they are paying attention, they can often compromise this shot, likely with spread out drones. The Hydran is going to have trouble compromising this shot, unless they give up the fighters for basically nothing.
>>You probably butcher an Andro... so you've got that going for you.>>
Probably? Like, the ship is not *terrible*, and has some probably advantaged fights. But I think (much like the FED), lots of drones are a problem. And big plasma is a problem. And "lots of drones and/or big plasma" tends to be 75% of the field. The FED, at least, can do crippling damage in one shot (that the VUD can't really), and the FED can arrange for auto hit torps (that the VUD can't ever--maximum hit # is 10, so even at R1, the VUD isn't that unlikely to miss with at lest 1 torp). The IPG is handy against clumped drones, but it is generally not that difficult to mitigate this issue by the drone user.

Game 1.7 GaiusFrackingBaltar (Kzinti) defeats Zero_G (Orion, H1g1B).

It was a good game. I went speed 16 most of the game with overloaded disruptors.
At one point he high energy turned to get range two instead of range 4 on his rears he traded it for his forward shield which was pristine.
We ended the turn on a hex spine and if I'd stopped he would have been on my number 1 shield which was down.
So I plot 16/8/4/0 for 4 moves. I kicked out a shuttle to snipe him and launched all the heavy drones and fired all my weapons at Wayne at range 2 shocking him. He believed I wanted r1.
I get weird dac with 3 twelve rolls taking out two thirds of his control boxes. He blasted me back but didn't get any disruptors and phaser 1s.
Then the next turn I shot him again and again leaving his ship powerless.
I carried out my promise and ate his Executive officers face and spared the captain.
Zero g will live and fight on in many battles.
But every time he looks at his XO he's going to remember that time my crew came for dinner.
Next up the winner of Spartan vs Greg T.
My next snack will either be scales and tails or Romulan ears.

Game 1.2 has completed 2 turns. Some shield damage-anyones game. Planning to play again next week.
By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 - 10:46 pm: Edit |
Game 1.8 has progressed to 4.32.
First plasmas are launched, starting on reloaded volleys. Rom's initial plasmas chased the Gorn into the upper NE corner. The Rom phaser-ed and took the Gorn initial plasma, and then maneuvered to launch 50 as the Gorn turns out of the corner. So, Gorn used one WW, with a 4-14 plot turn 3. Rom moved behind to take advantage of reduced speed on early turn 4, and was able to get a few plasma to land, although they hit different shields (launched 3.32 and 4.1), since the Gorn maneuvered well. The follow-up phaser fire, however was able to score some 14 or so internals, and the DAC was kind to the Romulans with 1x plasma, 3x phasers, 3x warp.
So, the plasma ballet is scheduled to continue tomorrow morning Tokyo / tomorrow afternoon LA time.

Ive reported it.
By Andy Koch (Droid) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 02:10 pm: Edit |
Wait. Does loser report? I forget....
Alright! All games are done or in progress.
THanks for the updates you magnificent bastards!
By Joshua Ivan Driscol (Gfb) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 03:16 pm: Edit |
I think both winner and loser are supposed to report.
By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 03:56 pm: Edit |
IIRC either player can report, but only report should be submitted to SFBOL.
After a game, winner and loser should agree which will report.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 04:12 pm: Edit |
Yeah, confirming--if *both* people report on SFBOL, weird things happen (as the game vanishes as an option when the first person reports, and if the winner then reports by accident, the tree advances again...).
One person reports. Traditionally it is the loser of the match, but either person can report successfully as long as they don't both report successfully.
By wayne douglas power (Wayne) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 04:26 pm: Edit |
I tried to report at the time, the SFBOL had no page open to report loss.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 04:49 pm: Edit |
It's currently active on the Standings Page.
By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 10:40 pm: Edit |
Josh,
I have fixed the tournament. The names are case sensitive so if I create the tournament round incorrectly, then the game win or loss can not be reported.

do to lack of internet, I am conceding the 1.8 round between myself (Greg_T and Spartan). Good luck the rest of the way, Spartan!
