I want both! 😁

That said, I'd love to be able to catch up on all the SSDs via pdf before getting new products. I understand I may be in the minority here.

Like to see omega sector come out on e books

By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 - 07:53 pm: Edit

The Omega Master Rulebook includes everything but the SSDs.

By Ginger McMurray (Gingermcmurray) on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 - 08:34 am: Edit

It's the SSDs I'd like to see. /i haven't even tried to convince people to play Omega because a lot of the SSDs aren't readily available to me without paying huge shipping costs.

Note: I've got everything that's already in e-book format except a few Captain's Logs.

I want to see the ssds to

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, November 19, 2020 - 03:00 am: Edit

The Omega SSDs were done by Bruce on a computer that was destroyed. We had copies but they were destroyed in a crash that corrupted the backups. The only way to sell you Omega SSDs is to take a stack of blank paper, stop doing any new products, and rebuild them one box at a time. IN theory we could do scans but those are of fairly low quality. Somebody email Jean without telling her I said to and ask her if she would consider scanning them and selling PDFs of the scans.

One theory would be for some Steve to do one replacement SSD per day. That would take months to do the first book but at least we'd eventually get there. The problem is that some days are very busy and there are about 20 "do one a day" projects that want to be done and that would leave zero time to do things that actually pay the bills. Farming out the work to someone else runs into the problem that it takes somebody named Steve just as much time to check and SSD and it takes him to DO an SSD from a blank page.

As for non-Omega SSDs, standard answer. If we upload them without updating them, we get killed in reviews that lower the sales of ALL of our PDF products. So we must update them before we sell them. Updating is work and the sales don't pay for the cost of the work. So they become non-revenue feel good projects which we do but very slowly.

For those following here: I pinged her on Facebook. She says she's sure it'll happen but doesn't know when.

Will the x1 xship ssd book ever be. Available on e books

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, November 20, 2020 - 12:23 am: Edit

Sigh. When it's updated. See the ABOUT message at the top of this page.
======
ABOUT: We know you guys want SFB stuff in eBook format and we plan to give it to you, but you have said you want it updated first, and that means it gets done one product at a time, cannot be done while Petrick is doing CapLog or some other module, and we're frankly not sure how long it will take to update a given product. So, stay tuned, it's going to happen, but not everything is going to get fully updated tomorrow.

We will get there but not this year. Too many books need updating.
If we release a non updated book the whole line gets trashed in reviews.

We plan to release every module electronically. The problem is that if we don't spend a month or two updating any file we upload, we get trashed on reviews and it ruins all of our ratings. So whatever you want you will get, but not today, and not all at once. I'm not sure which product Steve is updating right now but he's always got one working.

I could make that appear in flashing red letters every time you open the topic and people would still ask the same question. Sigh.

Really want the R1 book to come out

By Jay Gustason (Jay20) on Saturday, March 05, 2022 - 12:28 pm: Edit

Next book I’d like to see R5 battleships

By Alex Chobot (Alendrel) on Saturday, March 05, 2022 - 01:38 pm: Edit

Jay, R1 and R6 are the ones currently being revised and updated, but work on those has been on hold with SPP's medical situation.

Modules in general being updated to PDF generally happen as the traditionally printed stock of books run out.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, March 05, 2022 - 03:55 pm: Edit

I think at best you can expect the next revised book to be in three months. Petrick has to get better and have cataract surgery before he can resume work on it.

By Jay Gustason (Jay20) on Saturday, March 05, 2022 - 06:23 pm: Edit

My heart and prayers really go out to Mr Petrick I personally really want him to get better take as long as he needs

By Joe Carlson (Jrc) on Saturday, March 05, 2022 - 09:37 pm: Edit

I am also praying for Petrick and the ADB family. I found out this week I have cataracts in both eyes. I can still se and read. In May the doctor will do 120 measurements on my eyes to see, as they say, if my cataract are "ripe" for surgery. Preliminary finding is they are.

I was also informed by my Endocrinologist I need to be on an insulin pump due to the amount of insulin I am injecting. And that my osteoporosis (metabolic bone disease) is worse in my lumbar spine. Diabetes brought friends.

I have made a python script that modifies the Master Rulebook PDF file in the following ways:
1. The Table of Contents is now clickable.
2. Throughout the text, wherever there are references to rules that appear elsewhere in the book, e.g. "(G21.111)", they are now clickable.
3. There are now PDF bookmarks corresponding to the Table of Contents entries. (These are easier to use than scrolling all the way back to the Table of Contents.)
4. I changed the document's title from "Microsoft Word - 0 PAGE 1 MRB-10" to "Star Fleet Battles: Master Rulebook (2012)".

I claim no copyrights on the resulting file, but of course ADB retains theirs. So I can't send my modified copy to anyone unless there is a way of proving that you own the PDF. However, I can provide the python script and instructions for running it, if people are interested.

I am interested in that Jonathan.

I am as well

Jonathan, contact Jean to discuss having ADB distribute this.
