15. Jack Taylor

Wolfie wants to play, but I told him that until he learns to read the SFB rules, he isn't allowed to register.

By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Monday, June 12, 2023 - 06:09 pm: Edit

I don't see BS.

16. Michael Kenyon has claimed the last spot.

Tell Wolfie he can test fly the Carnivon TC. :)

Just a thought -It might be a better experience for the newer players to be match up to themselves round 1,

By Steve Petrick (Petrick) on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 - 04:33 pm: Edit

We had a total of 18 sign ups, as Geoffrey Clarke and Richard Gazaway had two submissions each. Richard Gazaway had not paid when Michael Kenyon posted, and so has been left hanging as a result. I wish to apologize to him that we only had 16 "seats" and could not accommodate him. I hope to have him play in future games as a Kzinti. In the interim, I hope he will take advantage of this situation to introduce himself to the board.

I have been staying away from playing in the Sapphire Tournaments as of late, to give other players a chance to participate.
I will be observing the battles as much as possible and can help with Rules or SFBOL Interface if need.

Are we playing this tournament like the old school yards day in Queens with random pick-up games. I love it.

Gentlemen and Lady:

The rules for Sapphire Star as originally posted allowed three (3) weeks for the first round to be played, but that was allowing for the Summer travel season. This is starting in after June 16th and I am aware of scheduled holidays that should interfere with the flow of the games. So for this tournament the normal two-week cycle will start on 17 June 23, with the first round to be concluded by 1 Jul 23 (this will hopefully not interfere in the 4th of July).

The second round will begin on 14 Jul 23 and is to conclude on 28 Jul 23, allowing time for 4h of July and travel getting us back on cycle.

The third round will begin on 28 Jul 23 and is to conclude on 11 August 23.

The fourth round will begin on 11 August 23 and is to conclude on 25 August 23.

Does anyone have a problem with this schedule or the tree?

Good Luck to you all in the coming tournament.

Paul Franz:

This message should provide you the tree, if you need it sent to you as a separate document, let me know and I will do so. Thank you.

Respectfully:

Steven P.

REMINDER: There are strict deadlines: two weeks for each round. When matched with an opponent you have 72 hours to agree to a time to play. If the game cannot be completed, you must agree to a schedule to resume the game at the time the session ends, and must finish within the deadline. Any game not completed on time (or if both players request it) will be adjudicated and, if the game is inconclusive, the judge reserves the right to declare both players lost and fill the spot with a wild card. If someone drops out, disappears, or just won't schedule his game and there is time to put a wild card player into his place, we will do this if we can find one. If not, it will count as a forfeit and the other player will win and advance. There will be no forfeits in the final game, even if we have to find a wild card player (or have two players fight for the wild card spot) and start the two-week clock over again. Wild cards for the second and third rounds (and possibly the first round) will come from those who did not advance from those rounds.

Sorry about the delay in posting this, and not sending it by e-mail, but I have had a lot of computer issues of late (like the computer deciding arbitrarily that it will not recognize the "A" or "S" keys on my keyboard, and takes literally a half hour to reboot and stalls when it does so for about an hour, and other issues).

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Thursday, June 15, 2023 - 05:07 pm: Edit

@SPP: Sounds like you need a new computer...

Tree is posted.

Yay the WYN FFDD (Battle Pig: cheer squad).

I see Ted avoids his fate once again.

John Malis has an interesting call sign... someone may want to e mail him and let him know about signing up for SFBOL?

By Mike Kenyon (Scottishenginee) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 01:25 pm: Edit

Been a stitch, how do I get contact info again for my opponent?

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 01:31 pm: Edit

@Andy: Complain to Petrick. He's the one depriving you of your vengeance!

@Mike: Click on your opponent's name here on the BBS. Likely their email address is there. You can also go to the SFBOL website and do a callsign search if you have their callsign.

By Andy Koch (Droid) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 01:36 pm: Edit

I see Petrick is susceptible to bribes then.

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 04:32 pm: Edit

@Andy: Yes. He takes payment in Quatloos!

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 05:16 pm: Edit

Contacted my opponent.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 05:19 pm: Edit

Mike, here is the Player Contact:

https://www.sfbonline.com/search.jsp

But you need to know their SFBOL call sign, which is very capital specific. Your opponent is Spartan, which works just fine in the above contact link.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, June 16, 2023 - 05:21 pm: Edit

I just sent a message to Malis via Facebook. Hopefully he'll pop in soon.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, June 17, 2023 - 07:19 am: Edit

I got a hold of Malis--he will probably post here soon. His SFBOL callsign is Malis1701

By John Malis (Jmalis) on Saturday, June 17, 2023 - 01:09 pm: Edit

Hello everyone. Sorry being late to the dance. My callsign is Malis1701 and my email is malis1701@gmail.com
I signed up on SFBOL and paid my shopping cart dues.

Would like guidence on what to do next. I'm not sure how I find out who my opponent is. Thank you everyone. And good luck in the tournament!

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Saturday, June 17, 2023 - 02:43 pm: Edit

John,

The tree is a few posts up and also at the results page at SFBOL.com:

http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/

Your opponent is Paul Franz in whatever version of the Andromedan is currently legal (I *think* it is 2xTRH and only 2 batteries? Maybe 3 batteries?). Paul's SFBOL callsign is Andromedan

Contact Paul via email, .cc Petrick (rules @ starfleetgames.com ) and arrange a play time. It is traditional to post an announcement of when your game is ahead of time here (so folks can watch if you don't mind) and then post results here. Everyone loves a good play-by-play post, but if nothing else, post a "Player X in Ship Y beat Player Z in Ship A in match 1.2" or whatever, and then you report the game via the link at the top of this thread via the Current Standings link (there is a Report Game Results link there).
