I saw shooting. Game is still underway and undecided. Both ships have lost a couple shields and some light internals.

Spartan is empty though. He can get fastloads in 33 imps. (he took 20 ints. Does he still have any batts?) will be interesting to see if Moose can take advantage of that opportunity.
By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Monday, March 18, 2024 - 07:36 pm: Edit |
Hey now, let's sync on those details.
RKR took 17 internals, and retains 4 batteries, so quick loads are possible in 32 imps. WAX has taken 11 internals, and may take more shortly. We ended turn 3 at range 3, RKR's full #3 facing WAX's down #3. drone wave of six drones in flight, two at range 1, 4 at range 3. I'll try to give a brief summary as time permits. It has been an interesting fight so far.
I've emailed Moose about the schedule, waiting on reply.

You can switch between ships in my tourney but not in the Sapphire. So, shoo! Back in the TFH with you!^^

The third round will begin on 2 Mar 24 and is to conclude on 15 Mar 24
This game is past due & should be ruled for a winner.
By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 - 08:08 pm: Edit |
Yeah, not RKR ... RFH, lol.
I'm trying to get Moose to respond by email to schedule the continuation.... Mr. Petrick is copied.

Missive noted.

2 more turns of my game with Spartan completed. He killed 3 more warp boxes with phasers and hit and run raids. I lowered 2 more of his shields to 4 boxes and 2 boxes, leaving just his #1 and #4 at more than 4 boxes. He spent turn 5 cloaked and has the possibility of all his plasma armed next turn. We hope to continue next weekend.

Hit and runs! Unexpected!

I have sent a request to SPP for a new topic for my tournament. As soon as it is up I'll post rules and accept sign ups.
Speed is set to warp nine

This game is now way past due - this game MOST be called per the rules.
We have seen this before where a game is delayed and it goes on past the point of the other players losing interest in SFB and the system breaks down for 18 months. This has happen and is why we have Sapphire now.
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 - 10:00 am: Edit |
Like, I completely understand where you are coming from here, and essentially are correct. That being said, we are dealing with a massive time difference (i.e. Spartan lives in Japan; Steve lives in East Coast US), and the game is being played at a reasonable pace. It'll likely be resolved this weekend, which strikes me as a much better result than adjudication here.
Like if people aren't showing up for games? Sure. Adjudicate. If people are just neglecting to schedule games? Adjudicate. This however, seems like a perfectly reasonable situation for wiggle room.
I mean, we can certainly start the next SS, as most folks are in the "Hey, let's start a new one" phase. But I don't know that hard line advancing this one is necessary here.

Tnx, seth. Added a rule to my tournament project to cover this situation
By Jack Taylor (Jtaylor) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 - 10:22 am: Edit |
Personally, I don't care if the final match this Sapphire is delayed for unusual circumstances. We all have been doing pretty well getting these Sapphires done. What I do care about is the next Sapphire is currently delayed. We get fewer Sapphire tourneys played when there is delays. That is also what Seth is probably concerned about. I can see no reason not to open up registration for the next one. Let's do that please?
By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 - 04:51 pm: Edit |
3 people are affected by the length of this game, myself, spartan and Jack. I don't hear any complaints from Jack. The time difference between Spartan and I means we have only been able to get 2 or 3 turns completed each time we play, that is the reason this is taking so long.

Invites to my tournament was sent out a few hours ago and for some reason I have heard from the good guys only. The wicked sleep well I suppose!
Currently there is one pirate(me) three Alliance players, and Seth and Geoff who I talked to last week. That makes six.
There is no upper limit set for the number of players, but next week it will be time elect admirals etc. so by Friday 5th I will start close the door.
If any of you haven't got an invite with link to the rules then tell me and I'll send it to your preferred email adress. Or if you know some who would like to play but was not on my mailing list list.

Hey Hardcore,
I got the link, I'm ready to sign up as a member of Team Coalition, aka the "Revisionist Powers". Each win counts as 1 point for the team, and the team with the highest points at the end is victorious ... albeit with the various "personal win" vendettas at work in the background? If we have six players, that is six rounds, right?
Thanks for running the new show!
By Carl-Magnus Carlsson (Hardcore) on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 - 10:09 am: Edit |
Geoff, "Revisionist Powers" was a new one. ^^
We need 12 players for six rounds so clearly you're doubly welcome

I was waiting to sign up on the BBS?

Peter, by email works fine since I don't know when a new topic will be created. (a request was sent by email to rules at starfleetgames.com three days ago.)

I am afraid I was visited by the hideous rotting plague the last two days. And I have only now recovered enough to make it to the office to try to get a grip on all the things running. Seth has a valid point, and I should have answered before, but the game in question has an. additional sticking point and I have chosen to let it run. When the two captains can overcome the time distance factors to again engage they have been, to my eye, going at it hammer and tongs. I am sorry this does not meet with the approval of all concerned, but the time warp is very real and other factors are also in play. I am afraid that privacy mitigates against my saying more on that issue.
By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Friday, March 29, 2024 - 05:34 pm: Edit |
We are playing again in about 30 minutes and another turn or two will likely settle the matter.
By Stephen McCann (Moose) on Friday, March 29, 2024 - 06:11 pm: Edit |
Correction, missed the email Geoff sent me cancelling for tonight. We are trying to reschedule for later this weekend.

I personally like both players and I am cool with it playing on with Steve's OK
