Andros Back with a Vengeance!

Talk of Andro demise appears premature. This turn they attacked 2 systems in force. In one operation they used 56 ships over 2 weeks of hard fighting to ultimately poison a Vari system. In another operation in Canadian space they poisoned the Galactic Power system with 49 ships, again with hard fighting. In summary, we are at least making the Andros pay now for the loss of our systems, but the system are lost none-the-less. GWW hopes the empires effected have researched the cure.
In better news the Qari found and destroyed an Andro starbase on the edges of the Milky Way galaxy. Still a rare site, a full second generation XSQ, supported by 2 elite X1 SQs conducted the attack. In continued good news the QIXA and Hydran both report they have found Andro SAT bases.
Perhaps the most notable news, a first, we have a battle in the HUB galaxy. The Hub galaxy seems to be a staging area the Andromedans use to make forays into the MWG. While it might not be much of a battle, it is the first time the GP (In this case Gorn) have manned naval units in direct conflict with the enemy in another galaxy (HUB sector G33.12). The battle was inclusive with both sides leaving in good order, but the Andro PYX and the Gorn second generation DD sustained moderate damage. In another galaxy, with no supplies or infrastructure supports, its unclear what the Gorn XDD was/is going to do? It surely is running out of supplies fast. Can it find its way back home to the Milky Way Galaxy?

Battle for Huntsman
Vari system; sector F34, last 2 weeks of 195.2.
Thought to be a heavily defended system, with 2xSB,4xBS, and a full array of small ground bases, but the Vari added another 29 ships to the defense (CVA group,BB,CC,18xCW, 4xCL,TUGCVA). Total FTR/Bombers was 131.
Andro Attack Fleet-> DVX,2xDVR,2xDOM,9xCQX,5xCOQ,CQR,3xPYX,11xPYT, 5xCOB,MAM, 3xQNS,8xEEL,2xANA,3xANX,DIA,12xPSS,5xEML.
Total number of electronic warfare platforms (and channels) was mind boggling. As far as reports could tell 167 channels of EW were available in the operation, but the Andros always had the edge. Initial attacks were focused on forcing the Vari naval units to leave the battle. This was accomplished early in the operation after the loss of the Vari BB and a CC SQ. At that point it was a moderate grind for the Andros to work down enough defenses at the system to be able to crash land a QNS loaded with pestilence. System, evac procedures have been instituted.

Battle for Yukon
Canadian system; sector L54, last 2 weeks of 195.2.
Canadians had a strong naval force present, and with 2xBBMs thought they had it locked into safety. Andros with 49 ships had other ideas, the initial engagements were very bloody as the maulers did serious damage to the Andros. Between the 2xBBM and the 3xCWM, 2xDOM went down. In the end, after the first BBM, then the second BBM fell, the Canadian naval units disengaged and the system fell through attrition, culminating in another Andro pestilence QNS landing. Evac procedures started.

Battle for Andro SB
Qari space, sector A4, last 2 weeks of 195.2.
In the edge of the MWG in Qari space, in an area filled with high energy anomalies, the Qari gathered a force of elite X1 and X2 units and attacked a hidden Andro Star Base. It had been under surveillance for a year and when the QARI detected mobile units leaving the SB they assembled and attacked. The Qari advanced ships made quick work of the SB, however it is the first recorded loss of a second generation X ship.

The super high speed movement between galaxies is possible, but so far only 1 or so manned unit have made the journey. High speed MV inside the Milky Way is also now reality. Normal movement to other galaxies may be possible using a defined “wormhole-warp” technology. New, super advanced ships (X2) will probably be needed, and at least 100 are confirmed to to exist.
New forms of supply will need to be developed, of which are not even known.
GP know that 2 galaxies seem to be involved, one is called the HUB and the other ANDROMEDA, but detailed astronomical observations are still scant.
The estimated cost of mounting an operation to just one galaxy is 1/3 the total Galactic Power GNP. The estimated research outlay needs to be in the 10,000 of thousands of economic points.

HUB GALAXY ATTACKED! Andromedans Get Payback!

Grand Fleet Admiral Srrrextonnnz planned a daring operation to take the fight to the enemy. Two years in the making, a series of WORM trips to the HUB galaxy, with over 30 first generation X ships has brought the enemy the fierce wrath of the galactic powers. Much rejoicing and a great morale boost for the galactic powers, FINALLY we have hit the enemy on their own turf. The operation was a surprise attack on one of the Andromedan anomalies in the HUB galaxy. It turns out it was an Andro star base. Taking it completely by surprise the Gorn fleet under the command of the great Admiral Alllzzzon hit the Andro star base with a “smash”, which BTW is the name of the operation. Similar the Doolittle raid on 20th century Earth, or the attack on the Rigel base at Gorteck -II, it may not have been a decisive military strike, but it was a huge boost to the Galactic Powers here in the Milky Way. No reports of the exact composition of the Gorn fleet, nor their exact location as they are still in action. We are told Gorn losses are very lite, however they did confirm for the first time a 2nd generation X ship loss. Next stop; Andromedan Galaxy!

In other news....
2 large concentrations of Andro forces are detected in the MWG. One in LDR space and the other in Alunda. These seem to consist of very large numbers of Andromedan ships. Vari did lose a convoy to the Andros, and the Qixa and the Hydrans killed a SAT and AndroBS respectively. Two more SAT have been seen. In a more interesting battle the Cand tried to stop a large Andro contingent, a Cand BBM was in the battle. Because of Andro reinforcements the Cand were forced to withdraw, both side taking losses(Andros a COQ,COB,EEL. Cand a MAPMX,3xASHMX ,SCX).
A massive espionage attack into Kzinti space destroyed many merchant vessels involved in MRR (mining of off map areas for income). Total reduction in Kzinti output was not negligible. Kzinti claim over 20 Andro saboteurs with 5 killed. Kzinti have also been the first to claim a portion of he Andromedan Galaxy as their own space. Not very large, but it is a “mark” that the Galactic Powers are coming for the Andromedans.

We are starting up a new universe soon, if you been waiting to hop in and try a game, but didnt want to come into the middle of a game, now your chance.
Set in a classic General War setting, early Y170s, with some varying empire specific victory conditions, it should be lots of action fast. Since the game will be set up on the verge of war no need to take too much time empire building, its conquest time!

ANDROS STRIKE!

The Andros seem to be continuing their reign of destruction, this time with new technology. As reported last news flash an unusually large group of Andro units was seen near LDR and Alunda space, and they did attack as expected. Even though the Alunda and LDR knew an attack was coming, and prepared for it, both systems were annihilated. Both systems were probably the most defended the Galaic Powers have put in a fight but the Andros were still superior. At least the Andro took losses, but that just not good enough for the loss of entire Galactic systems! Here what we know in the technology race that we seem to be losing.
A modified TR beam, code named Dissector Beam. This weapon literally vibrates large chunks of a ship apart and leaves gaping holes in the ship.
BB Class ships, code named Devastator (DEV), and when they install the Dissector Beam its called a Devourer (DVR). These units have been seen here and there before, what makes this a new threat? They managed to convert one of the BB monstrosities to X tech. Code name DVX, this ships is a true planet killer, and as best our scientists can figure its not cheap, it should cost the Andros in excess of 1000EP each.
Some kind of Enhanced Fleet Control Tech, code named CET. It seems to allow a greater number of PHY and COQ clss ships to be active in a combat zone AND they have slightly better capabilities then normal.
Some kind of anti-EW platform, on a converted COQ class code name Narrow Beam Electronic Bolt (NBEB). This unit seeks out and targets enemy EW (similar to 20th century HARM missiles) damage or destroying them in the process.
Some kind of shape charged TR beam, code name Displacement Device Whip (DDW). With this weapon installed on a large Andro ship it has the ability to literally shake an opponent until severe structural damage is done, leading the SHOCK effects.
Some kind of new mauler specifically designed to pour maximum amount of damage to the nacelle areas. Code named Modified mauler Engine Tech (CMM) it is used by COQ class ships (CMM). Effects include severe engine damage and reduced strategic speed.

Battle Details:

Battle for Angora (LDR Sector AA22)

Happening early in the year it was over in only a few days, but the shear size and scope was record breaking. During the battles 78 Andro ships, 22xLDR ships including a massive fleet of 226xFTR/Bombers, 15xArmed freighters, full load of ground bases, and 2xSB,2xBATS fought over/near Angora. It was quite the feat that during the battle the LDR managed to evacuate 1000s of citizens. So much advantaged EW in the battle it was difficult to record for the GWW, we even had a advanced Andro EW platform go wild (and later destroyed), total EW channels involved- Andro 127, LDR 87. Total AF (Attack Factor) involved- Andro 2000, LDR 1200. After the week long battle end the Andros had lost INT,2xCOQ,CMM,ANX,PYX,2xCOB,IPSS,6xMiniEM.
LDR- BB(poor crew),CL+(poor crew),3xCLHosp,CVL(12xZR,MPE),DW,MPM, 2xFDD(poor crew): QCB,SP+(2xHWM,8xHBM,42xmZR, 6xmZ4),SB+(6xHBM,36xmZR), BATS+(3xHBM,12xmZ4,6xmZR), BATS+(3xHBM,6xmZ1D,12xmZ4), BATS+(3xPFM,18xBobA),10xDefSat, 4x+BHB(24xZB1),4x+BHB(24xmZB1), 4x+GWS, 4xGSG, 8xGMB(48xZB2), 2xLCA,4xLFF,LcMX ,FDDSYA,SC3SY():

And most importantly unfortunate the system was annihilated.

Battle for Te (Alunda Sector Z71)

This huge battle ran about the same timing as Angora. It was another gigantic series of skirmishes leading to a final climatic battle at the system. Alunda had some time to prepare and managed a BCH SQ, a BB SQ and a full 1st Gen X SQ to help in the system defense. Alunda also had some of the galaxies new tech weapons to use at the Andros, ground based fusion bombs and ground based kinetic warheads. These new “wonder” weapons of the Galactic Powers were design specifically to counter Andro aggression. So the Alunda battle force had attack value of 1500 including 32xShips, a SB,and 2xBATS. They had advanced EW total 69 channels. Andro bullied into battle with 73 ships (4xDEV/DVR,3xDOM,INX,12xCOQ,24xPYT class) totaling 2100 attack points and a staggering 142 EW channels. The Andros were bloodied by the new weapons but their shear firepower took the weapons out early, and eventually the Alunda navy reached the ordered withdrawal value and left the battle, after which it was just mop up for Andros and they blew the system.
Andros had lost INX,2xCQX,PYX,PYT,QNS,2xCOB,EM-LX,4xPSS,17xMiniEM.

ANDROS New Old Tactic.

The Andros have reverted back to a strategy we have not seen in years, the decimation of the merchant marines of the Galactic Powers. At the start of the war the GP (Galactic Powers) took quite a beating and lost hundreds of merchant ships, they then put massive amounts of naval units on convoy defense and the raids stopped. It seems memories are fragile because neither Alunda or the LDR seem to remember this and had little naval units on convoy duty, and it cost them big time. In quite a few instances the few naval units that were defending convoys saw the large Andro forces and abandoned the convoys. Alunda, LDR, and reports the GWW has received from other empires who have been raided say the Andros are not just destroying the convoys they find, they are doing something else, consuming??? Teams of researchers are working to finding out the details.
Two complete Andros fleet have vanished and its worrisome thinking about where they will pop out next. However, we have good intel on where two other fleets are located, and the rumors are the GP have a Andro fleet trapped.
The tiny blip of Kzinti space seen in the Andromeda galaxy(AG) still sits there, no doubt as an annoyance to the Andros. The Hub Galaxy seem very quite at the moments, astronomers have detected very slight energy readings.
The heroes of operation SMASH have arrived back in Gorn space to a naval welcome parade not seen since the General War. Grand Fleet Admiral Srrrextonnnz was on the parade station watching the First Gorn Extra-Galactic Fleet run down the parade lanes off of Ghdar-I. Standing next to her was Gorn Admiral Alllzzzon, the commander of the first successful attack on enemy soil. We do know a bit more about the attack. All first generation X ships WORMed to the HUB galaxy, and secretly maneuver into position to attack and destroy a Andro SB. The attack seemed to have some effect b/c the HUB galaxy immediately reduced its energy signature. Consisting of some 35 first generation X ships, led by a DLX with outstanding crew, it took more losses on the harrowing return trip then during the battle. Still those losses were within acceptable limits, let the celebrations continue!

In an masterfully orchestrated operation, at least 3 Andro fleets, and over 200 Andros ships conducted a massive and coordinated attack on civilian shipping in many areas of the Milky Way Galaxy. Klingons, Lyrans, Qixa, Kzinti, and LDR all had merchant marine hit hard. Most of the convoys hit were undefended, but even where convoys were covered it was a massacre, demoralizingly the Pol and Tugs abandoned the convoys and left the crews to their fate. Occurring thoughout the turn, hexes were hit and the invaders moved to the next. Task Force Alpha (a Galactic Power multi-empire fleet) has been used to follow a INX group all the way to the Kzinti home world. Hopefully it can be caught this upcoming turn. Over 100 freighters of various types have been lost and almost 1000EPs in goods lost. The Andros lost nothing. These losses are said to be most severe in Kzinti space, it may even be a loss of economic output from their empire it was so bad (Just working freighter losses totaled 16xFL,26xFS). It doesn't seem these are sustainable losses for the GP (Galactic Powers). Several who were at the receiving end report that the Andros have been doing something “funky” with the freighters attacked.
Second generation X ships are in action. In what may be a precursor to the future a Qixa elite X2 SQ (2xXCA,3xXDD,3xXFF) was cornered and fought a very brief battle against 3 assembled Andro SQs. While the outcome was not favorable to the Qixa, for the first time the GP had a EW advantage. Perhaps it's one of the reasons the X2 SQs are so coveted? The Frax are continuing their successful SAT base hunting, bagging another one in Qari space.



So….
The super high speed movement between galaxies is possible, so far over 70 or so manned unit have made the journey. High speed MV inside the Milky Way is also now reality. Normal movement to other galaxies is possible using a defined “wormhole-warp” technology. New, super advanced ships (X2) will probably be needed, and at least 180 are confirmed to to exist.
New forms of supply will need to be developed, of which are now being developed.
GP know that 2 galaxies seem to be involved, one is called the HUB and the other ANDROMEDA, but detailed astronomical observations are still scant.
The estimated cost of mounting an operation to just one galaxy is 1/3 the total Galactic Power GNP. The estimated research outlay needs to be in the 10,000 of thousands of economic points.

A New Dark Time.

In the last year the galaxy logistics system has been hit hard. Almost 300 freighters have been taken out in the Andros new push to grind the Galactic Powers economy to dust. Some Galactic Powers tried to defend their trade routes, others seem to have apathy toward their civilian navy. The Frax in an attempt to stop the slaughter of their merchant marine lost 17 military ships in addition to a cornucopia of merchant vessels, not a single convoy was saved, not a single Andro was killed. It become so bad that in the last few weeks of the year Frax convoy defenders were just up and abandoning the convoy at the first sight of Andros. In Kzinti space huge losses in convoys have resulted in a breakdown in the logistical systems, shortages and a slowdown of economy have started. Can localized parts of the MWG sustain 300 freighters and 2300EP a year removed from their economies? Just as the Galactic Powers thought things were making a turn for the better a year and a half ago, its now rock bottom time. MWG morale is at an all time low. Its one thing to lose military personnel, but with thousands of civilian merchants being killed the strain is showing.
The Andromedan INX the GP (Galactic Powers) thought they had trapped has escaped off Kzin.
The energy surge discovered years ago continues to nip away at the SRs in the galaxy, at least 3xSR have succumbed the past year. In a new small victory the Klingons caught a Andro SQ trying to raid its convoys over a system, with three elite X1SQ it managed to kill a COQ. The Frax seem to have killed a CQD but the information is scant. GP also have noted the Andros have made some battle technological improvements to it's PYT and COQ classes. It seems they can operate in larger cadres of the same units with enhanced abilities. The Andros seem to be making technology gains, what happened to the GP? We have heard nothing of the newly created navy of second generation X ships? When do we take the fight to the Andros???
