Something I was considering, a relatively simple conversion that would help the WYN both in and outside of the Cluster. Convert the Disruptors to Special Sensors, put Mechlinks on the tractors and add winglets like those on the Orca PFT to add addtional mechlinks. It would not tax WYN construction as much as producing a new CW PFT, and allow for more PF use.

I think most PFs in the Cluster are deployed from various planets and bases on convenient rocks. The PFs can deploy from the factories direct to their base in one trip...

Andrew Granger: The WYN have few ships, their PF is quite adequate tot he mission. Why would. they look for a a new design? This is not a rejection per se, but yo would need a compelling reason to do what you are doing. WYN shipyards are already turning outPFTs to the old design snf buildthrm quite efficiently. What enemy requires these new PFTs? What disaster cauf the WYN government buildthis ship?

The WYNs have a destroyer-sized light fast patrol ship tender under (R12.54) in SFB Module R12.

-----

Aside from during the War of Return, one potential use for a WYN fast patrol ship tender in open space might be to clear Andromedan Rapid Transit Network nodes from the vicinity of the Cluster, from Y195 onwards.

However, given the need for the base hull to retain at least some heavy weapons in order to carry out this role, it would be better for the WYNs in this instance to lean upon their heavy war destroyer design - or, even better, their advanced technology heavy war destroyer from Module X1R.

-----

Later on, it's noted that the WYNs send a squadron of "fish ships" to participate in Operation Unity.

In theory at least, one could use a smaller PFT to send replacement "casual" PFs being deployed by these ships, should any be lost in battle.

In practice, however, would it make sense logistically for the WYNs to send any "casual" PFs as part of their Unity task force in the first instance?
