I don't know, right off, if there are any updates for this, but it's been 13 years and you'd think during that time someone would have noticed a typo or asked for a clarification. If you know of a needed update, tell me please.

What might we call this? Platinum? Rhodium? Iridium?

Well, you give silver for a 25th anniversary (2012?). You give ruby for a 40th anniversary (2027?).

In the current "silver" Master Rulebook, the rules for the Early Years Carnivon and Paravian weapons - namely, the disruptor cannon, heel nipper, death bolt, quantum cannon, and quantum wave torpedo - from Module Y1 are present and accounted for.

In light of the publication of Module C6, should the rules for the "modern" DC, HN, DB, and/or QWT from this product be incorporated into the next iteration of the Master Rulebook?

While these weapons do not appear in the Alpha Octant in the "standard" timeline, they do appear in the various alternate timelines provided in Module C6.

Alternatively: should it be clarified in print that the Omega-Paravians adopt QWTs that function identically to that is covered in (FQ1.0), perhaps these rules from C6 could then be re-directed over to, say, a future revision of the Omega Master Rulebook instead?

-----

Also, should any of the Borak weapons and systems from i{Module E3} be factored in also, or should this question be deferred until, or unless, the Borak are to be formally published in a future C-module?

Historically-speaking, the Early Years Borak weapons and systems would be as "real" as those for the Early Years Carnivons and Paravians, at least prior to the Hydran intervention against the Borak in Y88. Later weapons, such as the phaser-cannon, would be conjectural in the "standard" timeline.

That said, I would prefer that the megaphaser and turret rules for this empire be more thoroughly tailored to their specific use by the Borak - to include getting rid of the "rollbar" rules for non-Borak Alpha empires which, quite frankly, seem a bit too post-1979 Franchise-ey in my mind...

-----

Speaking of alternate timelines:

Could the Dissection Beam from Module C3A be included here?

Unlike the other weapons and systems provided for the Andromedans in C3A, the DSB was a terrifyingly real weapon, in the "dark future" timeline encountered/created by the Darwin in that infamous scenario from Module X1...

Stating the obvious, but there are quite a few corrections in the eMRB after action thread here:

Star Fleet Battles: After Action Reports (Finished Products): eMRB

In particular, Ken Kazinski (@Kjkazinski) seems to have found a lot of undisputed corrections and addition of omissions that are needed, as well as querying some rule details and raising the biggest question for the Master Rulebook - where does it end? Should we include: simulator rules, alternate timeline rules, LMC, Omega etc?

Also raised in discussion with @SPP was the issue of a General units MSSB.

The Omega Master Rulebook already exists as a place for all (non-SSD) things Omega Octant to be collected. I would not recommend diverting the "rules" portion of that book here.

Nor, indeed, would I advise including any "rules" material for other non-Alpha settings, such as the Lesser Magellanic Cloud or the Triangulum Galaxy.

Further, I would suggest keeping any "impossible", "simulator", and/or "threat file" material, as found in products like Module C4 or in (most of) Module C3A, off the table for this product.

-----

I would argue, however, that "real" alternate timeline technologies deployed in the Alpha Octant - to include from the Darwin's "dark future", or in the "lost empire" timelines from Module C6 - ought to be considered here.

Just the "rule" portions, mind you. The details of how to actually deploy them can be detailed elsewhere.

Aside from the items posted above, one other thing I"d ask for in a new edition of this Master Rulebook - or would that be a Master Rulesbook? - is an update to (Z5.0): which both helped introduce new readers to those other Star Fleet Battles venues (Omega, the LMC, etc.) that exist outside of Alpha; as well as to those "sibling" game systems, such as Federation Commander and A Call to Arms: Star Fleet, which exist in the broader Star Fleet Universe alongside SFB itself.

There are more venues through which to explore the SFU than ever before. The more opportunities a new player - or, perhaps, one returning to SFB after a long absence - has to discover these venues in a product like this, the better!

eMRB - (J17.0) - This rule is more of an administrative note from Module J2 covering the introduction of advanced shuttle types to the game system over 20 years ago. In light of that, the current wording referring to “This product” and the like is incorrect and awkward in the eMRB. Suggest rewriting along these lines, for use in both the eMRB and J2:

Starting in Y180, advanced versions of the standard administrative shuttle (R1.F17), GAS shuttle (R1.F18), HTS shuttle (R1.F19), minesweeping shuttle (R1.F20), MRS (R1.F21), and SWAC (R2.F19) became available. Romulan cloaked decoys (G27.0) were also improved. To track damage to an advanced shuttle when using an SSD that does not already have an expanded shuttle damage track (extra shuttle damage boxes being marked with an “A”), use a single slash to indicate one point of damage and (as necessary) a second slash (creating an “X”) indicates a second hit.

The following summary of the Master Fighter Chart shows these advanced units. All are available in Y180, have a dogfight rating of zero, and have two chaff packs. Only the MRS carries drones (or similar weapons).
