In the case of the TKE vs Klingon battle, was the Klingon "stalling"? He did run away without firing a shot. I think not. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

In my opinion, a better tactic for the Klingon would be to continue charging. Range 8 might or might not be obtainable. If I were the Klingon, standard disruptors are best (or 2 standard and 2 overloaded if one wants to gamble). One has the option of overloading from batteries should range 8 be obtained.

The Klingon can absorb 30 of the 50 point plasma on a 30 point shield. P3's can reduce the damage a bit. The Klingon can generally take down an opponent's shield each turn at range 8.

The question, is the TKE stalling if he cloaks out? I think not as the main TKE weapon will take 3 turns to rearm. The Klingon is not obligated to close against a cloaked ship. The TKE is not obligated to fight at a great disadvantage either.

I say let them play. There are many tactics available to both players. The "Gorn anchor" worked this time.

Congratulations Stimpy!

I don't think the discussion was about the TKE/KLI battle, but rather the prior controversial case.

I guess you're an OG horror fan if Ted's 1:59 PM post makes you think of Edgar Allen Poe and H. P. Lovecraft.

Go TKE that is all I have, Close take the hit tractor and blow it up.

3.1 bakija (GRN) vs Spartan (ISC) is tonight at 5:00 pm ET (7:00 am tomorrow Japan time).

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, December 08, 2025 - 06:16 pm: Edit

3.1 Spartan (ISC) over bakija (GRN)

I hoped Geof was gonna be real aggressive (as the last time he was real aggressive, he beat me, and the last time he wasn't real aggressive, he lost), but he wasn't, and then he guessed well, and I guessed badly, and then took a real bad 12 internals, and then broke down anyway.

T1: GRN plots 16 till 14, 31 till 26, 26 till end (25 moves), holds standard torps, weasel, 4 in tractor. ISC moves 24 till 15, 17 till 26, 26 till end, holds standard torps, standard PPD, a couple weasels, pre-plots full HET. We move straight up the map, slipping towards each other. At R14 or so, the ISC launches 2xG torps. At R10, fires the PPD, hits all 4 pulses, most centered on #1, last pulse split on #1/#6. I'm moving 31, ISC is moving 17, so I am aggressively closing. I manage to take the 2xG torps on my #5 by slipping out and turning in after a couple phaser 3's (-4 damage), take 12 in, and take a brutal 12 of 3x phasers (including one that didn't fire) and an F torp. ISC fires 4xP1 at my #6 at R5, knocking it down to 8 or so. ISC launches another rear F torp. I close in. ISC does not speed up. I get R3 centerlined before the F torp hits anything, and as much as I was hoping for an anchor, it wasn't gonna happen, so I shot with 2xS bolt, 1xF bolt (other tube blew up last impulse), 5xP1 (as a P1 got killed). Hit with S+F, roll ok on phasers, do 47 damage. After 5 reinforcement, do 18 in (which is not remotely enough). ISC fired back with 2xP1 and 2xP3, removing most of my #1. Next impulse, ISC HETs North (which I did not expect), I slip to take the F torp on my mostly down #6 for another 10 in (nothing particularly important) and tractor him for 3 power (1 strength) at R3. Launch my F torp from the destroyed tube for spite. We both slow down to 12. Plasma gets to R1. He hits it with a couple P3s. Next impulse, ISC goes forward, I HET South to keep us in the same place, but roll for breakdown (-1 due to tractoring my opponent), roll a 6 and break down. Game over!

I mean, I was done anyway, but the breaking down was just some good comedy.

As noted, I needed the ISC to be real aggressive and come in hot, where I could tractor him, but that didn't happen (again, the last time Geof did that, he killed me, so it wasn't impossible he'd do it again). When that didn't happen, I needed one of the G torps to be fake (neither was), and then when one of them wasn't fake, I needed to not lose a plasma F and a third phaser on the 12 internals, but I got both.

Sometimes you guess well, sometimes your opponent does.

At least now I don't need to fight a TKE :-)

Great Game, Peter!

When I saw you give your #1 with no reinforcement, and shift up to 31, I knew you were coming in for the bolt shot. I did not expect 40 pts to really deter you, just got lucky with internals, which mitigated the bolt shot somewhat. Decided to reinforce with btty, since you bolted, thinking you might tractor, but what the heck, I could take the last F. Your internals where great too, hitting two heavy weapons (both rear-Fs) on 1.26, so I would have just enough time to get the last F out of the tube on 2.1, but the next drone hit would be the big one, maybe your phaser fire could penetrate to try to get a chance to take out the PPD before it could be re-armed? Turn 2 would have been interesting ... but it was not meant to be. Thanks for the quick fun battle!

Onwards towards the King Eagle!

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, December 08, 2025 - 07:56 pm: Edit

Like, this game is always just a lot of "Did I guess right?" for both sides; if you had armed an enveloper at the start of the game? I probably do fine there. If I had armed an enveloper, and launched it after you pitched out the G torps? I probably do fine there. All other things being equal, if I get luckier on those first 12 internals? I probably do fine there.

But, well, sometimes you guess poorly and your opponent guesses well, and then you lose :-)

Cadet_Stimpy - RKE
Stimpy has played a great tournament and looks like on paper the RKE would be favored in the match against the ISC. I would like to see this game. Cloaking is going to be the key.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Tuesday, December 09, 2025 - 11:14 pm: Edit

Thanks Seth,

I agree on the matchup, but I still don't ever feel favored vs. Geof or any of y'all actually.

Geof & I are looking at Monday the 15th at 2pm pacific, if my internet cooperates (will be at sea).

By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Thursday, December 11, 2025 - 04:08 pm: Edit

It is Stimpy's Density to win this tournament, only the chosen won can be victorious.

By Ted Fay (Catwhoeatsphoto) on Thursday, December 11, 2025 - 07:40 pm: Edit

There can be only one!

By Geoffrey Clark (Spartan) on Monday, December 15, 2025 - 06:35 pm: Edit

We met online, but Stimp's connection was not great, so we concluded it was better to wait until he is off the ship, looks like early next week.

By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Monday, December 15, 2025 - 07:21 pm: Edit

hes on a ship?? what?!

Just checking, has the final game been played?

If yes, tell Jean.

If not, do you have a schedule?

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 - 10:06 pm: Edit

It was scheduled to start playing yesterday at 5pm. Did not hear an update on that. I will check to see how far the game go.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 - 01:49 pm: Edit

no pressure, I was just trying to keep track, not badger people into playing faster.

By Paul Franz (Andromedan) on Thursday, December 18, 2025 - 08:23 pm: Edit

Steve,
No problem. Got Email from Geof there was a problem with the Internet connection on the Cruise Ship Daniel was on so they decided it was best to play after he gets back to dry land.

By Daniel Bitseff (Cadet_Stimpy) on Monday, December 22, 2025 - 04:58 pm: Edit

We are starting right now.

By Justin Royter (Metaldog) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 - 12:17 pm: Edit

if that S had been an R, game over. Crazy.. tractor power!!

By Seth Shimansky (Kingzila) on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 - 01:06 pm: Edit

whats the update on the game - I know there was action.

By Gregory S Flusche (Vandar) on Friday, December 26, 2025 - 07:23 pm: Edit

I got to watch more of the TKE vs ISC. I saw a great big ball of fire an enveloping R torp. ISC weaseled it for 10 coll. The ISC has no rear shields the Rom no front shields. The ISC front shields are at full. Both have no torps ready. The ISC has finally done 2 internals besides amour to the TKE. The •••• PPD is still not dead. The ISC is down like 9 power. All shuttles' dead and has a 5-sensor rating.

By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Friday, December 26, 2025 - 09:05 pm: Edit

I'm interested to see how this game is going? Has gone? Went?

By Gregory S Flusche (Vandar) on Friday, December 26, 2025 - 10:04 pm: Edit

still going.. tense game and very well played by both.
