It would keep the Omegan tournament scene separate from the Alpha.

If Tourney Cruisers were made for Omega they would be tested against Alpha cruisers before
their time.

An Alpha tournament destroyer series could be printed. I think the Omega destroyers would not be outmatched the warp disadvantage is less significant with the smaller omegan ship classes.

I think the Omegan tournament ships should be CC;s just like the Alpha ships, and should be balanced to fight the Alpha ships. In addition the "normal" tournament should eventually include the Omegan ships as well. I do not see any problems with Alpha/Omega matchups as long as they are balanced beforehand.

All Omega players will eventually want to bring their favorate Omega ship to battle the alpha boys. And the only way to have that work will be to balance them against the said Alpha ships. Otherwise we'll never get an even fight.

And besides, the Apha tourneys have had many many years of testing to perfect the designs to the utmost balance factor. Therefore it only makes sense to match the Omega's to balance of the Alpha's. (after all, what better example of pre balenced tourney designs exist?)

I was only suggesting the destroyer tournament as a temporary fix. It is obvious that Omega Tournament Cruisers will not be printed before they come up the warp upgrades. But the destroyers exist at this moment.

I agree with Scott and Rus. Even though I don't see Omega TCs ever getting sanctioned for RATs (and am not sure that would even be desirable), I want to see them and want them to be balanced with the official TCs. First, because they will make great additions to less formal tournaments. Second because having a balanced set of ships is handy for all sorts of scenarios, such as free-for-alls. The more TCs, the better.

When it comes to duels, I've found that things work best with cruisers. Smaller ships are just too vulnerable to a bad DAC roll. Larger ships can fun to duel, but can also be a bit goofy, and are harder to balance. While I would like to see a set of tourney destroyers (for ALL races), I would like to see the TCs first.

As for the warp disadvantage, I agree the Omegans need 30 warp. But it's easy to add 4 warp boxes, and the resulting ships are reasonable. And in many cases, they have been done. Many are on SFBOL.
