MJC,
At the bottom of the proposals thread is a button "create new conversation". It's there so that each proposal is given it's own individual thread and they don't get intermingled with each other. Would you mind using it instead of hijacking this thread?
Thanks.

To all concerned:
I have an alterante system that works quite well when it comes to starships going BOOM. Here is how it works:
1). Every warp box is 4 explosion strength.
2). Every impulse box is 3 explosion strength.
3). Every APR box is 2 explosion strength.
4). Every heavy weapon box is 1 explosion strength for every 10 points of damage it can do. This is also assuming that the weapon can be overloaded.
5). For everything else it is 1 explosion strength per box.
Damage to other units is worked out like this:
A). 100% damage to everything in the same hex.
B). 75% damage to everything 1 hex range.
C). 50% damage to everything at 2 hex range.
D). 25% damage to everything at 3 hex range.
I AM A TRUE BELIEVER THAT WHEN STARSHIPS GO BOOM, THEY GO BOOM!!!!!!!!!

That sounds too much like the original explosion strength caculation from the Zip Lock bag edition from the early 80's.

Way too much in the way of calculation, also.

The massive explosions result in the unrealistic "suicide Condor" tactic.
The large area of effect results in the old adage "the best drone defense is an exploding ship".

The old rule was subject to a lot of abuse, but it sure took care of the "superstack" problem.

To all concerned:
If anybody would like a copy of my "SHIP DESTRUCTION TABLES FOR ALL THE RACES" brochure, please let me know. I have done every starship in the game up to R10 and it is available "FREE OF CHARGE" to anybody who sends me an e-mail with a "FOR REAL ADDRESS" attached to it. I think everybody will get a "KICK" out of it.
