Deception Fleets.
One of the things we did instead of rolling for false leads was to have "electronic fleets" or E-Fleets.
I don't remember what we charged for an e-fleet counter but it was like 10 or 20% what a normal fleet with those ships in it costed.
This provided for a way for deception without a lot of moderator rolls.
If you did not detect a fleet you could not react to it.

Ken,
Just one thought. You require War Destroyers in order to build Fast Cruisers. The CF's came out before DW's I think that CF's should be required to have CA Tech block and Fast Warp.

3. Mobile base and FRD both came after BAS, BATS and SB as YIS. I think the permanent stations would be developed before the mobile ones. I would consider linking FRD to repair ship rather than MB. I think that they would look at easier ways of building bases after learning how long it takes to build bases especially after a war.

Hi Guys,
I did not decided anything. If you look on page 24 of the CDH (Campaign Designer's Handbook) DW's are a requirement for CF's.
On page 45 the FRD requires MB's and repair ships.
Is there someone out there that is good at Visio programming? If there is, we can use visio to create the tech block diagrams from the speadsheet or a access database. There is a free viewer that could be downloaded for viewing.
It would take me a while to create the program so if there is someone out there that is good at this it would be a help.

The only item in R7 that needs to be added to the tech blocks would be the Operations Base.
I would think that this should fall either after the BS or BATS. How about a cost of 2 the same as the MB.

Most DNL's are also fast ships. I would require a seperate line linked to DN's and Fast Ships.

I believe the consensus is to add the DNL between DN's & BCH's for 2 points. I will update my table.

IMHO, An Operations Base (OB) is seperate from the BS->BATS line, but is a Precurser of the SB. So SB should need OB and BATS, but a OB does not need BATS. It should require Freighters or Tugs, as an OB is a big Supply point.

The problem of making DNL's a requirement for BCH's is that Lyrans get BC's before they get DNL's. As the only Tech block that would fit for Lyran BC's is the BCH block, it could not use DNL's as a requirment. BTW I give Lyrans BCH's in the Super Heavy Cruiser block, but require PFT's first.

I am not sure I see a connection between the BCHs and the DNLs, in the ship description of the Federation BCHs that they are an outgrowth of the cruiser type rather than the DN, the CDH does show it as an outgrowth of the DN, but that seems to be the only link. The DNL would seem to need both DN technology and fast ship technology. The BCH and DNL would both seem to merit seperate links out of the DN block, but not connected.

I think you are right, probably from the CC block, it appears to be an out growth of the CC, with the NCAs an out growth of the NCL development.

The history does not support this.
R1.45 - most races which operated "Mibile Bases" developed the larger "Operations Base"...
so this shows the OB is after the MB but not part of the MB -> BS -> BATS -> SB path.

DNL; I selected between the DN and BCH blocks for the DNLs because of the timeline. When looking at the MSC the DNLs are generally developed after DNs and Before BCHs, Combining this with current Early DNs->DNs->DNHs, I felt that the ability to up gun the DNs led to the ability to up gun CCs/BCs->BCs/BCHs.
The Lyran BC is an oddity, I'm not sure where it would fit, but I would expect as a BCH since it gets the full weapons upgrade, Declaring that the BCH falls under Super Heavy Cruiser Block is probably a good idea.
