The WYN Fish DD is the WYN DW, but was called the DD since they did not previously have a DD. Just as the Orca is effectively the WYN CL, even if identified as a CW. The problem of course is that the "staff" here at ADB has all of that running through their memory banks (along with a lot of other things) and sometimes will not notice a reference to a WYN ship in a scenario being essentially improper, e.g., listing the WYN DD as a DW.

Eddie,

The year of SL296.0 is Y170 so it would not be a DD(M). Looking at R2.A23 is seems this might be a DE?

Any thoughts?

In Nexus 13 scenario SN18.0 (pg 27), there is a listing for a Pol-S, but there is no Police ship that would seem to be a scout. Any one have some of the old products that might list a rule number?

SN18.0 was republished as SH123.0 THE BATTLE OF VANDHA in Scenario Book #2, I am sure that the updated scenario would take precedence.

The DDM is the middle years destroyer. It is, however, an anachronism in that scenario as the ship description is specific that the last DDMs were converted to either standard destroyers (DD), destroyer leaders (DDL), guided weapons destroyers (DDG) or destroyer escorts (DDE) by Y169.

As to the Nexus #13 issue, see (R14.19) on Page #24 of Nexus #13. Note the unit got a formal SSD in Module C3 and retained the rule number, and its ship description under that rule number is part of the LDR Master Starship Book.

Ken, Looking at the ship name index file on the site I found the following
Sargon: Federation DD-504.
• Y170 Fought as DDM at the Battle of Blindside Station
SL296
• Y171 at home being refitted to DDG, A Call to Arms,
CL44.
• Fought Klingons Y172 (Orions involved) SH61.

Apparently it was a late refit, not done until 171.

Ken also it probably would not be a DE as they were almost limited exclusively to being carrier escorts.

Steve - thanks for the incite on the Wyn DD/DW. I am going to assume you are referring to the Captured Kzinti DW which is listed as ZDW (R12.39).

Thanks Eddie, that is good information.

Ken Kazinski:

From Module C3:

(R12.19) WYN MAKO DESTROYER (DD): Technically a "war destroyer," the Mako was a powerful combat unit for its size class. It retained the "Orion-type" cargo facilities and had plenty of power. The WYNs provided this class with two option mounts; see the General Rule in (R12.1G). It was the largest of the DW class.

As noted in my previous reply: "The WYN Fish DD is the WYN DW, but was called the DD since they did not previously have a DD. Just as the Orca is effectively the WYN CL, even if identified as a CW. The problem of course is that the "staff" here at ADB has all of that running through their memory banks (along with a lot of other things) and sometimes will not notice a reference to a WYN ship in a scenario being essentially improper, e.g., listing the WYN DD as a DW."

The Blue Sword listed as a DW in scenario (SL319.0) is a Mako, not the WYN-KZINTI DW.

(SH33.0) Module S1 - The Federation is listed as having a large fighter ground base. Is this a FSB-M (R1.28B)? - Ken Kazinski, 18 Jul 2018

Yes.

(SH73.2) Module R2 - The D6VK is listed as having 10xZ-YA fighters, are these just Z-Y fighters? - Ken Kazinski, 21 Jul 2018
