OK, here's the basic premise, it would be nice to have a scenario in CL31(?) to "highlight" XP Technology.
So why don't we as the board members come up with some ideas and forces for a Scenario to be included in CL31 (or at least submitted and ADB can decide if they wish to include it, to show XP ships in action as a primer for XP battles. If need be we can work up Attacking and Defending forces to be included in the scenario for Pick-up-Games.
Lets save SPP/SVC some time and brainstorm some.
My submittal would be something like "Incremental Steps" in R10 (NCA-CV vs CWV).
It would be a small squadron battle where one side has an XP SC3 ship (or 2 SC4 ships) and the other have normal GW-ships.
The non-XP player would get extra VPs for H&Ring an XP box (ie XPR, weapon, batt, etc) and the BP living (he doesn't have to destroy the box).
How about some other, simple, ideas.

Kill the Andro with the New XP???
Are there any rules for using the LAB boxes against ships? I wouldn't mind giving out VP for Information points if the scenario could be balanced.

Rather than jump right into a XP refit for a Carrier vs Carrier duel... why not start with straight up Cruiser vs Cruiser Competition using systems instead of combat...
dunno what that could be but maybe a 'scavenger hunt' type thing where labs, probes drones and admin shuttles help generate research points on something...
Hate the cookie cutter aspect but... a "good" captain will get the most out of his ship... and using labs, probes and shuttles closer is better...

What about a Simulator exersize?
Say a Fed FFG-XP clobbers a Fed DW???

Use a simulator race. Say, Klingon XP ships vs. Frax XP ships armed with photons instead of disruptors.

OK, I didn't have my heart set on a XP-CV vs normal CV, just something like one side has the "more advanced unit(s)", and the other plain-jane.
I could certainly see something like:
XP side: NCA-XP, CW, DW, DW, FF/DW
Norm side: CCH, CW, DWL, DW, DW
(or just get rid of 1-2 DW from each side.)

FRAX with PHOTONS
That might actually be worth doing even without the XP upgrade stuff.

There are rules for it in C4; basically, you can replace the disruptors with photons on a one-to-one basis. It necessitates changing the APR to AWR, but makes for a different Frax. They don't play the same way at all, really. Much more dangerous, IMHO.

Would this be the place to propose the mini-campaign I brought up in the CVA topic? Since the time frame would be around Y194-197 on the Fed/Rom NZ XP tech would be available for some of the ships opposing the Andros.
