FAQ FILE (updated 13 March 07)
==================
WHO CAN BE AN AMBASSADOR?
-
Anyone who reads this BBS and has posting priviledges to it.
==================
WHAT DO AMBASSADORS DO?
-
1. Go to various web sites and discussion groups where people discuss our products, or where people would be interested in our products.
-
2. Behave on those sites with respect, professionalism, and decorum. If a webmaster tells you not to do something, do not do it. This is a communication system, not a guerrilla warfare campaign or undercover insurgency.
-
3. Report back to the relevant topic what they heard, what kinds of questions are being asked, and what they posted. This not only makes Ambassadors look cool in front of the company exectives and other players, but let's us know what kind of information Ambassadors need to be more effective and avoids communicating inaccurate or outdated information.
-
4. Communicate, in their own words and in their own way, information about our products. Avoid "cutting and pasting our press releases" as sock-puppeting is a hugely rude thing to do on internet. If you have an honest criticism, feel free to post it. If you have honest praise, feel free to post it. If you can answer somebody's question, by all means answer it (even if you have to ask us for updated information).
==================
WHAT SHOULD AMBASSADORS AVOID DOING?
1. Violating the rules of the site you visit.
-
2. Flamewars.
-
3. Making deals on behalf of the company.
-
4. Declaring what the policies of ADB are (unless you asked and made sure you had them right).
==================
WHAT DO AMBASSADORS GET?
The most active, effective, and respectful of the ambassadors can be given various rewards including merchandise and the valued FIRST CONTACT MEDAL. Ambassadors will be recognized in Captain's Log and will earn the respect and admiration of their peers and the company.

TALKING POINTS FILE
======================
1. ADB is a nice company and at least tries, within its abilities, to respond to customers.
-
2. Our PRIME DIRECTIVE roleplaying games are solid trek-based gaming systems and while our Contract doesn't allow us to give you Kirk or TNG, any good GM can do their own.
-
3. Star Fleet Battle Force is NOT a rework of Star Fleet Missions.
-
4. Yes, we have a contract with Paramount, have had it for decades, and our stuff is legal.
-
5. Federation Commander is a fast colorful starship combat game. It is not a secret plot to trick people into playing Star Fleet Battles.

A word of Caution...

It is rude to go into one game company's site and promote the games of a different company. Going (for example) into the Decipher web site and posting ADB press releases is a huge no-no. We would not do that to them and neither should you.

You can visit such sites and report back if things are said about our products. You can answer questions, get answers from us for questions, or (gently and politely) correct misinformation.

The same thing applies to StarTrek.com; if Paramount wanted us in there, we would be there. Let us know if people there are talking about us, but avoid frequent posting of ADB info.

The most important thing is that the title "Ambassador" conveys that you are an official representative of ADB Incorporated, which you are not. Just be careful to avoid making people think you are.
