Tread Lightly

  Subtopic Posts   Updated

This topic is for those sites that belong to other companies. They don't get their own topics as we don't want to be seen as recruiting guerrillas to raid them, and they shouldn't have that much about us to report or that many posts by Ambassadors. These would include sites owned by Paramount and Decipher, among others.

I'll second TrekMovie.com .

When I first suggested this one SVC posted something to the effect that Paramount wouldn't let you guys buy banner ads there, etc.

I'm not sure if he understood that TrekMovie.com is a fan site and not Paramount-owned or run.

They do get a lot of exclusive pics and video from CBS Digital, so Paramount obviously knows of them and supports what they do. That may be why SVC wanted to steer clear of this site. I dunno.

The site does get tons of Trekker traffic though.

I used to visit ClassicBattletech everyday. Very hard site to navigate. To me it is the epitome of what is wrong with the php forums. If I missed one day, there would be so many newly created topics that I couldn't follow anything.

Initial Report: Decipher Forums/ Star Trek RPG
Stardate 3.29.2007

At this point, I am more doing recon through the Decipher/Star Trek RPG dicussion forums (reading, not posting).

What I have found is that their are MANY frustrated players of the ST: RPG in that Decipher has just not devoted anything to make progress on it, publish new materials (for several years), and seem to support only for a short time new volunteers. They did release two pdf's of books that were "cancelled."

The link below leeds to a posting and mentioning (not by me) of ADB, which summarizes some key points (that are wrong by the way) and demonstrates how people have the wrong impression in how easy it would be to convert PD to "canon" Trek.
http://forums.fanhq.com/viewtopic.php?t=57854

My plan is a "tread lightly" approach to bring these people up to speed on how PD can easily be converted. This serves to point out how Ambassadors can help change the pigeonhole.
Notice mention of d20 trek

SVC:
Does this format work for you??
On the tread lightly forums, I am treating them as recon missions for now.

Workable. I don't think you have to "remain silent" (as an American you can say whatever YOU think, and I wouldn't presume to tell you what that is) but I would avoid blatant sales ads and would stick to one "informative" post a week.
