Never have enough calanders. That will be a must buy.

I would need a team (including Garth and Nick) to write up the size and weight data, which we have never generated in any detail before.

By Michael Powers (Mtpowers) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 01:45 pm: Edit

I would be more interested in one of these than in the "Ships Of The Line" calendar.

By William Hughes (Patchfur) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 02:54 pm: Edit

Yes, especially with the historical paragraph, some service notes, and the action photo inserts...

By John Crawford (Catwhopurrs) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 03:15 pm: Edit

Yeah, I like it, I'd buy one.

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 03:39 pm: Edit

Me too

Put me down for two (one at home, one at work)

By Will McCammon (Djdood) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 04:22 pm: Edit

I'd love to help the team that will be exapolating the data. Please see my work on the Fed-FF page I pitched for the LFS project.

By Tim Longacre (Timl) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 05:59 pm: Edit

I could use a calendar.

By Erik Underkofler (Eunderko) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 06:52 pm: Edit

I'd go for one also

By Roger Rardain (Sky_Captain) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 10:09 pm: Edit

I think it beats the "Ships of the Line" calendars.:)

I'd take one - every year they are published!

By Daniel E. Bivona (Admiraldan) on Friday, March 23, 2007 - 08:40 am: Edit

I agree, WAY better than the "Ships of the Line."

WAY, WAY better!
It will become my new office calendar.

By Mark Tutton (Starfighterace) on Friday, March 23, 2007 - 10:15 am: Edit

I want one of those calenders also. Wow!

By James B. Pennington (Cutlass401) on Friday, March 23, 2007 - 12:47 pm: Edit

How much?
I'll take one

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, March 23, 2007 - 01:49 pm: Edit

I'm trying to get production quotes. Color printing expensive, and calendar-printing is specialized, tricky, and more expensive.

I found one sneaky way to lower the cost about 25%, which is to print eight 11x17 sheets, color one side and black and white the other side. Stack, fold, staple, trim. Result is a 14-month calendar with a color picture above and a black and white calendar below. Trick is that the months are in two sections that work from the center out, and halfway through you have to turn the calendar over. Could be confusing but like I said it saves a lot of money and works just as well any other calendar.

I've had calanders like that SVC. Doesn't bother me a bit.

Alternatively, just print twelve one-sided 11x14 sheets and sell an 11x14 calendar.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, March 23, 2007 - 03:02 pm: Edit

11x14 is an odd size but I am looking at several alternatives.

Are you going to offer Racial calendars or just a mix of races in one? I've been thinking that I would need 1 each Hydran, Tholian, Fed, and 2 Kzinti.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Friday, March 23, 2007 - 04:59 pm: Edit

I tend to doubt it. The printing bill would be gigantic (say, 12 races, $5,000 per race, do the math) and the sales would not be 12 times as many as one calendar (people don't have that much money and not everybody is interested in every race).

Technically, we aren't "going" to do anything until I get the quotes and make a decision and get the board of directors to approve it. We are still "thinking" about it.

I suspect that the first year will include maybe three each of Fed, Klingon, and Romulan, and maybe one each of Orion, Gorn, and Tholian, but that's just kind of "thinking out loud" at this point. The second year might cut the FKR down to two and add one each from Lyran, Hydran, and Kzinti. The third year might see one each of 12 races.

Ooops. I am thinking in 12s. We will probably have 14-16 each.

The CafePress calenders won't work for this project?

I must be missing something (as usual).

Would the center fold be Isis?

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 11:41 am: Edit

Or a Hooters Girl holding Isis?

"Deian tames Kzinti."

..

..

Seriously though, maybe poll the people what ship they most like a big beauty shot of.

Fed BCH
Klingon C7
B-10

Somewhere I'd like to see any PFT with docked PF's.

Maybe a big battle scene taken like a journalists photograph. Ooooh I KNOW!

The Mac going down over Romulaus!!! If THAT were the centerfold I can't think of anything that would sell more copies!

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, March 24, 2007 - 11:48 am: Edit

Cafe Press is an option, but we'd make about a dollar per calendar and since cafe press sales are in single digits I doublt the artist would be interested in doing 12-15 pictures for half of nine dollars.
