We have had one pin (the "Captains" pin) for years, and it doesn't sell much to gamers. Perhaps it will sell to trekkers? No sure. We're going to a trek convention in October to find out. And if that works, we'll make more pins for Comic Con.

Here are samples of the two new pins we are ordering today for release at the Tulsa trek expo on 12 Oct:

Not my racial-flavor, but the graphics are pretty spiffy!

The problem is that gamers don't buy enough pins to make it worthwhile doing a Hydran pin or a Lyran pin. The only chance is a pin that will sell to Trekkers, which pretty much means Feds, Romulans, and Klingons. MAYBE orion pirates. Tholians and gorns are somethign trekkers would relate to, but aren't that popular.

What about racial pins?

Vulcans?
Andorans?
Green Skinned Orion Slave Girl Union pins? (Joke! Its A Joke!)

You may not be able to use Enterprise, but what about other ship pins?

Exeter, Lexington, Yorktown?

For that matter, if you make some pins with the ship names of current US Navy ships (that are used in SFB), you may get some of those guys buying them too. Even if only for gag gifts. Of course you could always do a "survey" here to see if any of these navy guys would buy them, or even more than one. You could also check to see if any guys from the other countries would like some in their nations' ship names.

The trick is the minimum order (300 pins of each type). You've got a tough row to hoe to convince me that I'll sell 300 USS Yorktown pins.

Wow, 300. That would be a stretch. You'd have to talk to the Captain of one of those ships to see if he's a Trekkie or would want them for a special occasion.

Yeah, phone the captains of 300 Navy ships, ask them if they're not busy, then ask them....

nah.
