FEDERATION & EMPIRE PLANETARY OPERATIONS
On page 16, included in rule (533.41) the minor Orion planet is referred to as VEGAS.
The Gazetter (Revised 11/30/09) has OSIRIS listed for that planet. Just curious which should be used because one of the young'uns that I am teaching F&E to noticed (he's our Orion ).

Osiris is the one on the LSM.

Thank you for the quick response!! That is one we'll go with then.

Osirius is the name of a system (IE., at least one of the stars in the F&E hex). It may well have a planet in it named Vegas (if the F&E rulebook says it does). Or Vegas could be a planet orbiting a completely different star in that hex. Or could be the name of a different star entirely in that hex. Context matters.
Had a similar question up above regarding the hierarchy of naming regarding some Hydran planets. Basically, each F&E hex consists of many, many stars and many star systems...sometimes, a number of systems of note. Each of these systems may have (or may not have) many planets. The names may be different for everything (although not always - the third planet in the Aberdeen system may be named "Aberdeen-III", but the third planet in the Sol system is not Sol-III, but "Earth". I suppose it depends if there is native sentient life or not to name it something other than it's star name!)

...a number of scenarios in this issue have named planets, but these were later converted into 'Historical Scenarios', and the planets are in the Gazetteer already under those scenario names.
