Proofreader needed: Rounds told KTVZ on Monday that the six-point buck and two does started beating the dog with their hooves and then the buck tried to get her with his anglers.

Anglers? The buck has his own fisher-persons?

And this was AP!

The only problem with anything with alcohol is that I don't do alcohol. Near as we've been able to determine, a small amount (less than a glass of wine) does very bad things to me. I really, really do not want to repeat the experiences. Virgin strawberry daiquiris are now my "drink" of choice.

So aids involving drinking anything (including Grandpa's remedy of equal parts of brandy, lemon juice, and honey -- drink it until you feel better), don't work for me.

Today I was reminded to be grateful for small blessings.

I was in the waiting room at the doctor's office. As usual, I had brought a book to read. It was a small book that my folks had given me and an easy read. I read a couple of pages, turned the page and the older gentleman next to me spoke.

"You read both those pages?"
"Yes."
"That fast?"
"Yes."
"You must be smart and read lots of books."
"I like to read"
"I've never read a book. I can't."

When I talked to him, it became obvious that he had dyslexia and I was perhaps the first person that had ever described to him what the letters did (move around and make the words not be words that he could understand) and who didn't judge him for not being able to read.

Tonight I give thanks that I can read and that the world is open to me. I also give thanks for a gentleman who reminded me how special it is to be able to read. I received more than a flu shot and my doctor's blessings to travel; I read and had joy that I could read.

I want to share that joy with you.

I think having dyslexia is perhaps nearly as bad as being blind. As the years go by, we're all relying on text (this BBS, millions of others, cell phones, Ipods, menues, email, traffic signs, mapquest, a simple book, trying to buy a simple greeting card, reading a greeting card, signing a contract . . . my god, the list is endless).
Jean, you are right. There is so much that many of us take for granted. We whine if we wreck our car and then there are those that lose the ability to move on their own.
It becomes more pronounced as the holidays come.

Be thankful of what you have, what you can do, of who you know and for being alive in our Great Country
