1. I (and probably several others) sent in a request to add a FC: Academy gamepage to the database.
2. Nick Blank posted a review of Tholian Attack today:

Thanks, Chris. I posted that a day or so ago, and was just waiting for it to be cleared and show up.

I have just posted a very brief article in the Federation Commander: Academy section, titled "How Academy Fits Into The Federation Commander Line".
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/article/1402339#1402339
There appears to be some (not much, but some) confusion already about which entry product to buy (Rom border vs Kling border). I posted this to help potential customers figure out exactly which entry product they want.

Vanessa reports:
Board Game Geek http://www.boardgamegeek.com/newuser.php This is such a big site. Terry O has helped out and posted here some. There's a forum...there's just too much for me to have time to go through. I need help!!!
By Craig Tenhoff (Cktenhoff) on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - 04:15 pm: Edit |
Yeah, BGG is huge. Which is an advantage (audience) and disadvantage (too much data).
Vanessa may to bookmark the following:
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/publisher/25
http://www.boardgamegeek.com/designer/675
The Games section shows everything that ADB has ever published or that is credited to SVC. There is a Games Forum section showing the recent discussions on any of the games listed in the Games Section. In addition, any Forum entries for ADB or SVC are listed. In addition you can sort the Forums based on subtopic (news, rules, varients, etc).
The Publisher Forum - News would probably be a good place to post company announcements.
Hope this helps.

It does! But remember that Vanessa and I just don't have time to go to every forum. We need you guys to do the Ambassador job.
By Craig Tenhoff (Cktenhoff) on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - 07:46 pm: Edit |
SVC,
understood.
However, I wanted to give 'GOD' (or one of his direct minions) a place to occassionally speak to the unconverted masses
But in all seriousness, neither the publisher or designer news has any information in them and I thought that the Ambassador's (including myself), should use them in addition to the game specific entries.

I'm on that site just about everyday. I try to take note of anything related to SFU.
By Phil Shanton (Mxslade) on Wednesday, March 21, 2007 - 08:02 pm: Edit |
If your a member of the site make sure that you add any games to your collection, rate them and comment on them, this helps in the rankings and keeps the game from being buried due to inactivity.
By Craig Tenhoff (Cktenhoff) on Thursday, March 22, 2007 - 12:44 pm: Edit |
One would hope that we could get as many of the members of the board here to at least sign up on BGG and input and rate their SFU collection.
Like Phil says, the more people that provide ratings and comments, the more visability a game will get on the site.

I encourage everyone to do so, but BE HONEST and do not turn yourself into a "sock puppet". If you don't think we did a good job on a given product, don't rate it 10 out of 10.

I posted a review of Battleship Attack on BGG:

Good review. To answer your question, the rulebook is not in color for two reasons:
1. It would raise the price of the game by at least $5.
2. We would not be able to update it.
By Todd Warnken (Toddw) on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 - 08:59 pm: Edit |
I understand your reasons but it would be cool to see those ship graphics in full color.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - 11:22 am: Edit |
It would always be cool to get more and pay less, but reality intrudes.
By Michael Powers (Mtpowers) on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 - 12:34 pm: Edit |
Todd: Look for "Leanna's Fighting Starships"; it's a product that ADB is currently working on.

Added an entry on Star Fleet Battle Force to a list of card based wargames.

BGG has recently (well, within past year or so) added a "Wiki" feature to group together many related games.
The SFB "Captain's Edition" page is pretty solid, but the overall SFU page is somewhat of a mess at the moment. It's not specifically wrong, just badly formatted. I'll see what I can do to help on that.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, November 05, 2009 - 06:01 pm: Edit |
Please do.
By Xander Fulton (Dderidex) on Thursday, November 05, 2009 - 10:50 pm: Edit |
Took a first pass at it. It's still poor, but at least it's not awful. I remember how much I hate fighting with Wiki formatting codes. Anyway - lot less white space and lot less scrolling needed to get through the games, also added links to the RPG games.
The FedCom page could also use a little improvement, but some minor tweaks will go a LONG way there, so I'm hitting that next to be able to come back to the SFU page with a fresh perspective later...

I added Online Play links to www.sfbonline.com to the SFB, SFB Captain's Basic, FCKB and FCRB "More Information" entries and added it also to the Online Games page on the wiki. http://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/On-line_Games Online play is quite the thing with a lot of geeks and if they see that their old favourite tactical space game can be played online it could increase interest - I hope so anyway.
