Glen, at the top of the page that has all of the people of who have awards is a link for the list of the what the award is e.g. gold, silver, or bronze star. That link also describes what the various ribbon color combinations are and the higher level of award for a specific ribbon e.g. green and white with a + in the middle of it is for a captain's log issue.
