I think all the sanctioned tournament ships are capable of wining a tournament.

The Fed player would need to show up with loaded dice, because there's a handful of matches it's unlikely to win without a jackpot or other dice craziness.
By Jason Langdon (Jaspar) on Tuesday, October 04, 2016 - 07:28 pm: Edit |
Yeah, the Fed really is all about the dice.
3 out of 4 OL hit, you are probably going to win. 1 out of 4 OL hit, you are probably going to lose.

Barry Kirk & Paul Franz,
I hear rumours that you guys are attending again this year. Any truth to that? Can I move you up from "Rumored" to "Committed"?

David,
Sorry. I am unable to attend this year due to a conflict with my daughters "Friends and Family" weekend at her college.

Tournament Judge for 2017
By Peter Bakija (Bakija) on Monday, October 02, 2017 - 10:56 am: Edit |
Ok, so Dave is slacking on Council 5N reports!
So my vague memory of the top 8 were:
-Bill Schoeller (KLI)
-John Wrigley (WAX HgDb?)
-Seth Shimansky (TFH)
-Steve McCann (WAX 11g1)
-Ed Slusarek (ISC)
-Brett Johnson (HYD)
-Andrew Sackett (ORI PHgfb)
-Kosta Michaelopolis (GRN)
The final game is between Bill (KLI) and John (WAX) on SFBOL on, IIRC, Thursday at 7:00pm ET.
By David Cheng (Davec) on Monday, October 02, 2017 - 12:37 pm: Edit |
I claim exigent circumstances! I hosted Tim Sheehy last night so he could continue his extended vacation. He dragged me out to a sports bar against my will! I am just struggling to recover now...
(Editorial note: comments above only slightly massaged for dramatic storytelling purposes.)
We had twenty-two different people play SFB this past weekend, not counting a record number of re-entries.
Top Eight:
1) John Rigley Wyn AUX gHbD
vs
8) Andrew Sackett Orion (forget which package he used)
4) Ed Slusarek ISC
vs
5) Brett Johnson Hydran
3) Seth Shimansky Romulan Firehawk
vs
6) Steve McCann Wyn AUX 11g1
2) Bill Schoeller Klingon
vs
8) Kosta Michalopoulos Gorn
Top Four:
Rigley over Slusarek
Shimansky over McCann
Yes, to my knowledge, finals on SFBOL this Thursday, 7pm EDT.
Many thanks to all the folks who joined us to make this a fun weekend of SFB action.

Any updates on the final? Between Schoeller and Rigley (?).
I was working all night, so missed the game.

I won. Turn 1 he ran to the near corner and stayed out of ol range. I fired 4 ol disr and killed 3. I launched 6 some d 20 drones from the sp.
Turn 2 he started at 21 me at 16. I slipped out as did he, and I turned in outside his fa. I add one of his drop new and tractors another accelerating to 31. He accelerated to 25 and turned into me and sp. I add’d a few drones, and ran around the rest. At range 4 I fired 4 ol, and 4p1s doing 8 in. Next impulse I fired 1 more p1 doing 4 in. I hit about 1 power, but hit 3 drone racks! At range 3 he fired a disruptor, and 4 p1s knocking my 3 to 1 box. He tractored 2 sp drones, and fired a gat pulse and an each remaining drone taking one drone hit to his 6 shield to go all by with his down 2. On impulse 32 he got his hb in arc after his slowed down to 13 eventually, and hit. I stopped 3 with remaining battery, and took 1 internal a disruptor. I launched 2 drones on 32.
Turn 3 I plotted spd 15 to turn around, and then 26 to chase. He launched 2 drones to counter mine, and ran to the se corner. I repaired a rg 10 dis and 2 boxes on shield 3. He repaired 2 boxes and a drone rack.
Turn 4 I plotted spd 15 for 11ish impulses, 26 through 22 and then 15. I tried to move to stop him from running to the middle side of the board. He doubled back to the corner and hit the wall. He countered my turn 3 drones. I got range 3 perfectly oblique on impulse 28 and did 20 internals. I slipped out and turned back in on 32. He fired 4p1s on shield 1 doing 17. He conceded
